About the opportunity
Footprints Community is seeking a compassionate and experienced Mental Health Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary team at the Medicare Mental Health Centre in Logan for this part-time, max-term position.
In this vital role, you will deliver short-to-medium-term person-led therapeutic support, mental health assessments, crisis intervention, and wellbeing coaching.
With a special focus on First Nations practice, you will work closely with the Practice Lead to provide culturally safe care and offer guidance to team members supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
This is an Identified Position.
It is a genuine occupational requirement that the applicant identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, under Section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act **** (QLD).
About you
You will bring 3+ years' experience in a counselling or clinical role within a mental health setting, and be confident to:
Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions, biopsychosocial assessments (using IAR-DST), safety planning, and risk assessments.
Provide culturally safe care and guidance to non-identified team members working with First Nations clients.
Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team alongside peer workers, psychologists, social workers, and external service providers.




Facilitate workshops and support groups to help clients build resilience and coping strategies.
Maintain accurate, person-led clinical records and engage in community outreach and stakeholder engagement.
You will need
Identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.
Tertiary degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, Occupational Therapy, or a related field.
Current registration with a relevant professional body (e.g., AHPRA, ACA, PACFA).
Minimum 3 years in a counselling or clinical role within a mental health setting.
Valid Class C Queensland Driver Licence and access to a reliable, roadworthy vehicle.
Valid Blue Card (Working with Children) and NDIS Worker Screening Check / Yellow Card.
