As a subject matter expert in public records and working is a small, busy team, you will support access to the Department of Education's extensive archived records collection to members of the general public as well as corporate and school staff.
This role can involve indirect exposure to traumatic content.
It is flexible but requires some onsite work, at 2 Treasury Place, East Melbourne.
About the Division
T he Assurance, Knowledge and Executive Services Division (AKESD)provides expert advice and support to thedepartment through a range of portfolio, advisory and assurance services, including:
Internal audit, VAGO audits, School Council Financial Assurance program
Cabinet and Parliament support, including board appointments
Freedom of Information, briefings and correspondence support
theDepartmental Liaison Unit
Privacy advice and support, records and digital content management, SharePoint and copyright advice and support, mail services
The Knowledge Privacy and Records Branch within AKESD is responsible for leading the department's management of corporate knowledge, privacy, intellectual property, and records.
About the Role
The
Records Management Adviser –RecordsAccessTeam
isa subject matter expertin public records.This roleprovidesefficient and appropriate access to the Department's extensive archived records collection to members of the general public as well as corporate and school staff.This role alsoprovides timely and authoritative records management advice.
Your typical duties will include:
Carrying out timely and high-qualityrecords management activities in response to requests from a variety of requestors
Providingauthoritativeadvice on records management requirements and processes consistent with departmental policy and related guidelines
Maintaining(and conducting quality assurance)ofcatalogues and databasesof the department's records
Contributing to the continuous improvement of the department's records management processes and documenting these processes
The successful candidate will:

Be able to undertake complex records discovery withindefinedtimelines
Be resilient andprofessionalhandling sensitive requests relating to claims and applications from the National Redress Scheme*
Provide excellent customer service and build solid stakeholder relationships, and h avewelldeveloped writtenand verbalcommunication skills

Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
2+ years of experience in managingpublic records incomplex organisation
Desirable:
Relevant qualification inRecords Management
The role is flexiblebut requiressomeonsite work,in accordance with theDepartment of EducationFlexible Work policy.
When onsite you will be based at 2 Treasury Place, East Melbourne.
