Database Reporting Specialist Parramatta | 2-year Fixed Term Contract | $180k-$185k package (inclusive of 17% super) | Hybrid, 3 days in office A major critical-infrastructure organisation is looking for a Database Reporting Specialist to take ownership of the reliability, security and future direction of its database and reporting platforms.
This is not a narrow BAU DBA role.
You'll sit at the intersection of operational excellence and technology modernisation-supporting a complex enterprise environment while helping shape its transition toward Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
You'll be the technical owner across Oracle and SQL database services: keeping production platforms secure, performant, recoverable and fit for a 24x7 business.
You'll also have the chance to drive automation, strengthen lifecycle and resilience practices, and work closely with architecture, security, delivery teams and external service providers.
What you'll be doing Own the operational health, performance, security and availability of Oracle and SQL database platforms.
Support and contribute to the organisation's OCI journey and wider database modernisation roadmap.
Lead database lifecycle activity including upgrades, patching, capacity planning, performance tuning and platform improvements.
Improve automation and orchestration across database operations to increase reliability, efficiency and scalability.
Design, test and maintain high-availability, backup, disaster-recovery and business-continuity capabilities.
Work across incidents, problems,

changes and service requests within an ITIL-aligned environment.
Help govern database and reporting platforms against cyber-security and critical-infrastructure requirements.
Partner with business stakeholders, technology teams and managed-service providers to deliver sustainable outcomes.
Support consolidation and improvement of reporting platforms and services.
What we're looking for Strong experience as an Oracle DBA, Database Engineer, Database Specialist or similar senior database-platform professional.
Hands-on Oracle and SQL database experience in a large, complex or regulated environment.
Genuine experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), ideally supporting or moving enterprise database workloads into the platform.
Strong knowledge of database performance, backup and recovery, HA/DR, patching, upgrades and capacity management.
Exposure to automation and orchestration-Terraform, Ansible, Python, PowerShell or similar tooling is highly regarded.
Comfortable operating in a 24x7 environment with mature incident, problem and change-management practices.
A security-first mindset, with awareness of standards such as ISO *****, ACSC guidance or critical-infrastructure controls.
Reporting-platform exposure-such as SSRS, Power BI or enterprise reporting services-is beneficial, though the core requirement is database and OCI capability.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys the technical depth of database engineering but wants broader ownership, influence and transformation exposure than a traditional DBA role offers.
