About the opportunity Based in Cameron Park, this Purchasing Officer opportunity is an initial 18-month fixed-term contract providing parental leave coverage within McLanahan's Supply Chain team.
This varied, hands-on role combines project-based procurement with day-to-day purchasing support.
You will manage requests from Project Managers and the Customer Service team, source components for bespoke customer projects and help ensure inventory and operational requirements are fulfilled on time.
Working alongside an experienced and supportive team, you will contribute across the purchasing process, including raising purchase orders, preparing RFQs, onboarding suppliers, supporting pricing negotiations and maintaining accurate supplier and pricing information within Epicor.




Key Responsibilities: Manage purchasing requirements for customer projects, inventory and general operational needs in partnership with Project Managers and the Customer Service team Process purchase requisitions and raise purchase orders for operational and capital expenditure requirements Prepare and manage Request for Quotations, gather supplier pricing and assist with pricing negotiations Set up new suppliers, coordinate required documentation and maintain accurate supplier records and capabilities Keep purchase order, supplier, pricing and delivery information accurate and up to date within Epicor Complete purchase order reviews and support invoice reconciliation, including investigating discrepancies, sourcing missing invoices and coordinating credit notes Monitor and expedite orders, communicate supplier delivery issues and escalate risks that may affect project timeframes Identify alternative products or suppliers when items are unavailable, obsolete or subject to extended lead times Build effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders while contributing to a collaborative and responsive Supply Chain team About you You are an experienced purchasing or procurement professional who enjoys a busy, hands-on role where no two days are quite the same.
Organised, approachable and solutions-focused,



you can confidently manage competing priorities while building strong relationships with suppliers and colleagues across the business.
You will ideally bring: Hands-on purchasing or procurement experience Experience managing purchase orders, RFQs, supplier sourcing and pricing Strong organisation, attention to detail and problem-solving skills Confidence communicating with suppliers and internal stakeholders Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel Experience using an ERP or MRP system, with Epicor highly regarded Exposure to manufacturing, mining, engineering, warehousing or logistics, which would be advantageous Purchasing qualifications or experience interpreting technical drawings, which would also be beneficial If you are an experienced purchasing professional who enjoys a rapid-paced environment, strong working relationships and the challenge of finding solutions when supply issues arise, we would love to hear from you.
