About the opportunity An exciting opportunity has become available for a Manager, Risk and Governance to lead the department's governance, risk management, compliance, organisational performance and business planning functions.
Reporting to the Director, Corporate Services, the role provides strategic leadership and expert advice to executives and senior leaders across the department.
The position is responsible for driving best practice governance frameworks, delivering integrated performance reporting, managing risk and compliance programs, and supporting organisational decision making through insightful analysis and strategic planning.
This is an opportunity to influence department-wide outcomes, work closely with executive leadership and contribute to the achievement of DEM's strategic priorities through robust governance and performance frameworks.
Key Duties Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of governance, risk management, compliance, business continuity and internal audit frameworks.
Manage the department's Audit and Risk Committee and provide expert governance advice to senior leaders and executives.
Provide leadership for the development and implementation of Risk Management frameworks and approaches that will support DEM in its achievement of strategic objectives Lead strategic business planning processes that align departmental objectives and priorities.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen governance, compliance and organisational performance.
Provide high level strategic advice on governance, legislative obligations, risk management, performance reporting and policy matters.
Build capability across the department through coaching, mentoring and education on governance and risk management principles.
Prepare high quality reports, briefings and advice for executive leadership and key governance committees.




Represent the department on relevant cross government committees and working groups.

The unit leads business planning, performance reporting, risk, compliance and work health and safety.

Qualifications Essential: Tertiary qualification in a business management discipline.
Remuneration Classifications: ASO8 Salary: $130,046 to $134,956 per annum plus super.
Full-time role working, 37.5 hours per week.
Special Conditions • Ongoing vacancy.
• Appointment is subject to a satisfactory National Police Clearance.
• This position is classified as a designated position.
• In accordance with the Agency Security Policy, the role will be appointed as one of the agency's Security Advisors.
