Legal Services Commission Job reference: req455 Location: **** - ELIZABETH EAST Job status: Long Term Contract Eligibility: Open to Everyone We are seeking a Legal Secretary to join our Criminal Law team in the Elizabeth Office.
As the Legal Secretary, you will provide support to a group of criminal lawyers, with duties including: Generating and/or formatting emails, letters, minutes, legal and court documents, opening and closing files and preparing briefs for inhouse and outhouse lawyers.
Handling telephone and email enquiries for lawyers, including maintaining and arranging client appointments and court hearings.
Providing assistance to duty lawyers and clients in relation to urgent court matters and applications for legal aid.
Providing assistance and backup when required to other secretarial and administrative officers, including by working at a reception desk or another metropolitan site, in times of high workload or absence.
There are current vacancies within the Elizabeth Office, however, applications are welcome to form a pool for future vacancies that may arise within various locations including, Adelaide, Noarlunga, Elizabeth and Port Adelaide.
About You You are a team player who works collaboratively with people from various areas of the organisation.
You will have the ability to build and sustain relationships with clients and legal professionals such as lawyers, prosecutors and court officials.
You will bring a demonstrated motivation and initiative to operate with a degree of autonomy in providing administrative support to lawyers and be able to effectively manage priorities and work to deadlines.
You will demonstrate: Strong digital skills and competency in the use of Microsoft Office suite of products, the internet, email correspondence and electronic records management systems.
Experience in the performance of an administrative support service in a legal environment.
Knowledge and understanding of processes and protocols adhered to in a legal environment.
An understanding of legal terminology and various legal documentation used within the court system.
Salary Range $66,442 - $69,504 per annum pro rata plus 12% superannuation and leave loading.
As a not-for-profit organisation, Legal Services is able to offer its employees attractive salary sacrifice arrangements, including up to $15,900 pre-tax Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT) year for general living expenses.
Term of Employment 24 month temporary contract available at the ASO2 classification level.
