The LIS Support Officer plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day operation, maintenance and optimisation of the Laboratory Information System (Auslab) across Public Pathology Victoria. Working closely with laboratory, clinical and ICT teams, you will help ensure system reliability, maintain data integrity, provide technical support to users, and contribute to ongoing system improvements that support high-quality patient care.

About You
n
You will bring:
n
n
Experience working within pathology, laboratory information systems, health informatics or IT support environments
n
Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
n
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to support both technical and non-technical users
n
Experience maintaining system documentation, testing activities and change implementation processes
n
The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively both autonomously and as part of a team
n
Experience with AUSLAB Evolution LIMS will be highly regarded
n

Key Responsibilities
n

Provide operational support and issue resolution for the Laboratory Information System (Auslab)
n
Assist with system configuration, maintenance, testing and implementation activities
n
Support data integrity, reporting and data extraction activities
n
Maintain system documentation, procedures and job‐tracking records
n
Work collaboratively with laboratory, clinical and ICT stakeholders to deliver effective solutions
n
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and system optimisation projects
n
Provide high-quality customer service while prioritising workflow based on clinical needs
n

Provision of high quality, effective, and innovative IT development & support function within a Diagnostic Pathology Service that meets the requirements of ISO ***** (Medical Testing) and the clinical needs of the agencies patients and clients.

n Collaboration with staff in relation to Business Applications matters as required achieving the organisations business objectives.
n Clinicians and internal clients, Pathology scientists and researchers, IT staff, Infectious Disease staff. All other hospital staff.

n Liaison with vendors and agencies of government, insurers and professional bodies as required achieving the organisations business objectives.
n Extensive liaison with external vendors and users of Pathology services.

Skills
n
Utilize and maintain job tracking software
n Software maintenance and configuration
n Document internal procedures
n Perform and document software Unit, Functional, Integration, Acceptance Testing packages and plans
n Prepare testing and implementation instructions
n Perform data extraction, SQL queries and report compilation.
n Communication with all staff as appropriate and provide status reports
n General experience in supporting PCs in a networked workplace, printers and spoolers, and other relevant IT equipment
n MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, and other relevant systems.
n Professional approach to patient care, service confidentiality and provision of pathology/testing services.
n Demonstrable ability to meet the clinical expectations of clients.
n Superior development as well as administration skills essential.
n Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
n Strong verbal and written communication skills to a non-technical audience.
n Strong interpersonal skills with sound ability to influence staff.
n Ability to work as a team member - either giving or receiving directions or sharing knowledge with other members of the team and demonstrable ability to work and communicate cooperatively in a team including other scientists, senior scientists, pathologists, nursing staff, clinical staff and researchers.
n Possess an adaptive style which responds to the changing business environment and demands.
n Ability to take direction and complete a task with minimal supervision.

Knowledge and experience in AUSLAB Pathology LIMS or similar
n Experience with writing in SQL.
n Financial skills relevant to billing/accounts receivable support and clinical costing projects.
n Knowledge of Medicare Australia and insurance fund billing principles.
