Alice Springs

Remote Communities | Housing | 12% super | Six weeks' leave
Not everyone is built for remote life. You might be.
You won't find traffic jams, crowded offices or a café on every corner here.
What you will find is space, responsibility, strong community connections and work where the results are visible every day.
MacDonnell Regional Council
is looking for a capable, practical person to coordinate council services in one of our remote communities, approximately a few hours from Alice Springs.
This is an prospect to live remotely, become part of a community and lead the local delivery of services people rely on.
One role. Plenty of hats.
You'll lead a small team delivering waste collection, road maintenance, parks, community spaces, cemetery services and other municipal operations.
On a typical day, you might:
Inspect the community and identify work requiring attention
Brief the crew and organise daily priorities
Supervise, mentor and support local employees
Coordinate equipment, vehicles and maintenance
Manage budgets, records and operational reports
Work with community members and other local organisations
Jump into a truck or lend a hand when circumstances require it
This isn't a role for someone who wants to manage entirely from behind a desk. Nor is it for someone who arrives believing they already have all the answers.
Success will come from listening, observing and building trust. You'll bring your operational experience while respecting the knowledge,

priorities and established ways of working within the community.
What will help you succeed?
You'll be practical, calm and comfortable making decisions independently. You can lead people without talking down to them, solve problems without creating unnecessary fuss and adapt when the day doesn't follow the plan.
You'll also bring:
Experience supervising, mentoring or coordinating a team
Practical operations, maintenance, civil works or service-delivery experience
Sound planning, reporting and computer skills
Confidence working outdoors and getting involved when needed
Cultural awareness, humility and genuine respect for others
A current driver licence and willingness to travel on unsealed roads
Previous remote-community experience would be highly regarded. Experience within council, infrastructure, facilities, trades, community stores or an Aboriginal organisation could all transfer well.
A package designed for remote living
Free housing for you and your family—utilities excluded
Work vehicle for business use
Six weeks' annual leave plus 17.5% leave loading
12% superannuation
Three gifted Christmas shutdown days
12 days' paid personal/carer's leave
10 days' cultural and ceremonial leave
Up to 15 days' study leave
Paid parental leave
An additional NAIDOC public holiday
If you're ready to live remotely, lead practically and become part of community life, this could be exactly the change you're looking for.
Applications close 30 September ****
