Have you had previous experience in environmental health or completing study in environmental health? Do you have a passion for improving the liveability, health, and safety of the community?
We are currently seeking an individual who has a high level of communication, relationship management and negotiation skills to join our Environmental Health team on a temporary full time basis as an Environmental Health Officer.
The ideal candidate will have tertiary qualifications in Health Science or equivalent and relevant experience as an Environmental Health Officer in local or state government. You will have experience dealing with the public in person, on the phone and via email along with experience working as part of a team.
Key responsibilities include:
Protectand promote public health by applying specialist environmental healthknowledge, regulatory expertise and evidence-based practices to preventdisease, manage public health risks and ensure compliance with relevantlegislation.
Respondto and investigate reports of nuisance, wastewater, unreasonable noise andpests in accordance with legislated obligations.
Respondto and investigate reports of infectious diseases and improve publichealth outcomes.
Undertakeregistration, inspection and sampling legislated requirements of publichealth registered premises.

Regulateonsite wastewater management systems through applications, inspections andapprovals and adherence with Council's Onsite Wastewater Management Plan(OWMP)

The ability to work autonomously with limited supervision as well as being able to effectively plan, organise and manage your own time is paramount, so if you are a self-motivated individual, then we welcome an application from you!
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate how they meet the criteria below:
Tertiary qualifications in Health Science or equivalent.
Ability to meet the legislation objectives of the role.
Experience in inspection, review and approvals of onsite wastewater management systems, food and health premises and food sampling.
Excellent communication skills, relationship management and negotiation skills.
Ability to demonstrate initiative, effectively plan to meet deadlines and manage competing public health priorities.
