An exciting opportunity now exists for an experienced and commercially minded Fleet Workshop Manager to join our leadership team and drive the future direction of Council's fleet workshop operations.

About The Role
Reporting to the Manager Fleet Solutions, the Fleet Workshop Manager is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of Council's fleet workshop services. This senior leadership role oversees workshop operations, maintenance programs, governance, safety, compliance, people capability, customer service and commercial performance.
Leading a multidisciplinary workforce of approximately 47 asset maintainers across mechanical trade specialisations and maintenance planning experts. You will be accountable for setting the standards of highly efficient service and repair centres and mobile mechanics, delivering safe, reliable and financially sustainable maintenance outcomes that maximise fleet availability and support critical Council operations.
As a member of the Fleet Solutions senior leadership team, you will contribute to strategic planning, organisational change and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring workshop operations consistently deliver value-for-money and customer-focused outcomes.

About You
You are a capable leader with experience leading complex operational services in a customer-focused, commercially disciplined and safety-conscious setting. You bring strong judgement, sound governance, and the ability to influence outcomes across diverse stakeholder groups. While exposure to fleet, logistics, transport, asset management or maintenance services will be highly regarded, hands‐on technical or trade experience is not required.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong capability in building high performing motivated teams, continuous improvement, contract and supplier management, enterprise risk, safety systems, and workforce development. You will be confident leading change, setting clear expectations, making evidence-informed decisions, and inspiring teams to deliver outcomes aligned to Council's objectives and Zero Harm commitment.
To be successful you will have:
demonstrated leadership capability aligned to Council's Leadership Blueprint
experience leading a complex operational service while balancing customer outcomes, commercial performance and safety
knowledge of asset-intensive maintenance or service environments, including governance, risk management, compliance and service planning
proven ability to lead a positive and disciplined safety culture and support continuous improvement aligned to Zero Harm objectives
experience developing and using KPIs, reporting and process optimisation to deliver measurable business results and value for money
high-level communication, negotiation, influencing, decision-making and stakeholder engagement skills
strong time management and organisational skills, with the ability to coordinate work to meet critical deadlines and business priorities
