About the Nutrition and Dietetics Department
The Nutrition and Dietetics Department ispart of the Allied Health division, which employs over 1,000 health professionals across 27 disciplines, broadly known as the therapies and sciences, who work as key members of the multidisciplinary team aiming to provide the best outcomes for patients via preventing, diagnosing and treating a range of healthcare conditions.
Our departmenthas around 55staff members across three sites - Austin (acute care), Repat (sub-acute care)and Talbot (rehabilitation), providing services to inpatients,outpatientsand home & community programs. Weoperateas one department and come together for staff meetings and continuing education. Our work environment is vibrant and fast paced and we are a friendly and supportive team. We have many highly skilled and experienced dietitians who lead our clinical teams - specialist medicine, oncology, surgical/ICU/gastro, paediatrics and mental health, sub-acute and ambulatory care, and portfolios - staff education,
quality, research, student training, food service, nutritionsupportand workforce operations.
About the role
As the Grade 2 Dietitian,youwill work as part oftheOncologyStream under the direction ofaSenior Clinician stream leader. This stream is highly skilled,hardworking,compassionateand supportive. The streamincludes services tohaematology, medical oncology,radiotherapy,day oncology and palliative care.With opportunityto be involved in student supervision, staffeducationand quality & research project work.
Your primary workload allocation will behaematology (includingstem celltransplant) and ambulatory cancer services including radiotherapy and dayoncology. You will be primarilybased on theAustinsitebut cross campus travelmay berequired.
Your workload allocation may vary according to operational needs across the stream and the department.
About you
As theGrade 2 Dietitian intheOncologyStreamyou will be someone who hasa keen interest and experienceincancercare,with a strong commitmentto excellencein patient care.You'llbring energy and drive to yourworkandhave a keen interest in developing your skillset.
To be successful in this roleyou'llbring with you:
Sound clinical nutrition knowledge inhaematology, radiationoncologyand medical oncology across inpatient and ambulatory settings
Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and to work effectively in a team environment
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Effective counselling skills and commitment to patient-centred care
Demonstrated organisational skills, productive workloadmanagementand ability to prioritise
