About the Role
Join the Sterilising Services Department at Maitland Hospital and play an essential role in supporting infection prevention and patient safety.
Working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will ensure reusable medical instruments are safely cleaned, disinfected, sterilised and prepared for patient use. Your responsibilities will include decontamination, inspection, assembly and packaging of instruments, operating sterilisation equipment, managing loan instruments, maintaining accurate documentation and reporting non-conformances.
This is a 7-day rotating roster with 8-hour shifts, offering the opportunity to work in a busy and supportive environment where teamwork, communication and quality are highly valued.
New staff will receive comprehensive support from In-Charges and Senior Technicians during an initial supernumerary period. Following this, ongoing support is provided by Senior Technicians and the Education team to support your continued development. Additional training and equipment-specific courses are also available following the initial training period, where applicable.
Where You'll Be Working
Maitland Hospital Sterilising Services Department provides sterilisation services to support the hospital's operating theatres and other clinical areas.
You will be joining a busy, supportive and team-focused department committed to delivering a high-quality service and maintaining patient safety. The team works collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, with a strong focus on communication, teamwork, continuous improvement and supporting each other to meet the needs of the service.
About You
We are looking for a motivated and team-oriented Sterilisation Technician who can work effectively in a fast-paced and adaptable environment.
Excellent time management skills and the ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to the team.
A willingness to support team members and learn new skills on the job.
The ability to adapt to a changing environment and work collaboratively with others.
Experience working in a Sterilisation Department is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided to the successful applicant.
Requirements
Sterilisation Technology Certificate III in health service assistance (sterilisation services) or equivalent qualification and relevant experience in sterilisation services department within a healthcare facility

Additional Information
To be eligible for permanent employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia, or a Current Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport.
