Factory-Based Role | Residential & Commercial Joinery
FORMA Joinery - Mansfield, Brisbane
FORMA Joinery is looking for an experienced
Factory Foreman / Leading Cabinet Maker
to join our growing team.
This is a hands-on factory role for someone who understands joinery production, can assemble work accurately, operate machinery, guide junior staff, and help improve the way a factory runs.
We are not looking for someone who only wants to work alone at a bench. We are looking for someone who can lead by example, teach labourers and factory staff, follow production systems, communicate clearly, and work closely with the Production Manager and Operations Manager to improve factory workflow.
3 Key Selling Points
Hands-On Leadership Role In A Growing Business
This is a practical leadership position where your experience will directly help shape the factory, train staff and improve production systems.
Residential & Commercial Joinery Variety
Work across custom residential cabinetry and commercial joinery projects, including kitchens, laundries, wardrobes, vanities, office fit-outs, workplace joinery and larger project packages.
A Role For Someone Who Enjoys Teaching And Improving Systems
This role suits someone who enjoys building joinery, solving factory issues, training less experienced staff and helping create a more organised, efficient production environment.
About The Role
The Factory Foreman will work under the direction of the
Production Manager
and
Operations Manager
.
You will be responsible for helping run the factory floor, assembling joinery, training and supervising labourers and factory staff, operating machinery, checking quality, and helping keep jobs moving through production.
FORMA uses an external fabricator with CNC cutting, meaning a large portion of the work involves receiving cut-to-size packs, organising components, assembling flatpacks, checking parts, preparing jobs for installation and ensuring work is completed to the correct standard.
The role also includes factory-based cutting and edging work where required, including use of the
panel saw, edgebander and other factory equipment
.
Key Responsibilities
Factory Production & Assembly
Assemble flatpack joinery accurately and efficiently.
Build residential and commercial cabinetry from cut-to-size components.
Check parts, panels, hardware and job information before and during assembly.
Identify missing, damaged or incorrect components early.
Prepare completed joinery for installation or delivery.
Ensure jobs are built square, clean,
accurate and to FORMA standards.
Maintain strong attention to detail across carcasses, panels, drawers, doors, hardware and finished components.
Machinery Operation
Operate factory machinery safely and correctly.
Use the panel saw where required.
Use the edgebander where required.
Assist with cutting, edging, trimming and factory preparation tasks.
Ensure machinery is used responsibly and maintained in good working order.
Report any machinery issues, defects or safety concerns immediately.
Teaching & Supervising Factory Staff
Train labourers and junior factory staff in correct assembly methods.
Teach staff how to read production information and job documents.
Show less experienced workers how to organise parts, assemble cabinets and prepare jobs properly.
Correct mistakes in a professional and practical way.
Help build better workmanship, pace, organisation and accountability within the factory.
Lead by example with work ethic, communication and quality.
Factory Workflow & Systems
Work with the Production Manager and Operations Manager to improve factory systems.
Help organise job bays, work areas, materials, hardware and completed components.
Support a cleaner, more controlled factory workflow.
Help identify where jobs are getting held up.
Communicate delays, missing items, re-cuts, damaged parts or unclear information early.
Follow the production calendar and factory build schedule.
Make sure jobs do not rely on memory or verbal instructions only.
Quality Control
Check assembled joinery before it leaves the factory.
Identify defects, gaps, incorrect parts, hardware issues or finishing problems.
Ensure work is complete before being sent to site.
Help reduce rework, return visits and installer issues.
Take pride in clean, accurate, professional workmanship.
Communication
Communicate clearly with the Production Manager, Operations Manager, installers, factory staff and office where required.
Raise issues early rather than leaving problems until installation.
Follow company procedures and directions.
Support a professional and respectful workplace.
Help create a factory environment where people know what they are doing, what the priority is, and what standard is expected.
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who:
Has strong experience in cabinet making, joinery, shopfitting or factory production.
Can assemble cabinetry accurately and efficiently.
Understands how joinery is built, handled, checked and prepared for installation.
Can operate machinery such as a panel saw and edgebander.

Can work quickly without dropping quality.
Understands that factory organisation affects installers, customers and profit.

Wants responsibility, not just repetitive bench work.
This Role Is Not Suited To Someone Who
Does not want to teach or guide others.
Refuses to follow systems or production procedures.
Only wants to work alone without communicating.
Hides mistakes or delays instead of raising them early.
Cuts corners to get jobs out quickly.
