More than one million Australians trust us with their money, and that trust shapes how we work every day. Our members sit at the centre of everything we do, guiding our decisions and the impact we strive to make.
We're looking for people who are purpose-driven and accountable, who value inclusion and collaboration, and who are proactive in managing risk to protect our members' long-term outcomes. In return, you'll be part of an organisation where your work contributes to strong returns, real-world impact, and a culture that reflects the communities our members serve.
Bring your authentic and passionate self to this exceptional role #careerswithimpact
About the role
If you've completed your law degree and want real, practical experience, this is it. You'll be mentored by a close-knit, experienced team who genuinely enjoy passing on their knowledge, with hands-on exposure to dispute investigation, conciliation and regulatory submissions from day one. It's the kind of grounding that opens doors, whether your future lies in dispute resolution, insurance law or the broader legal field, and every case you help resolve fairly builds trust between HESTA and the members it exists to serve.
You'll support the end-to-end handling of complaints, and insurance disputes, working closely with the Dispute Resolution Lead. You'll get broad exposure across complaints resolution, insurance, and stakeholder engagement, applying your legal thinking to real files under experienced guidance. Working closely with the legal team,

you will seek legal advice from the legal team and you will provide the legal team with instructions on litigated disputes and contentious matters.
Help prepare complaint responses, files and notices, liaising with AFCA, third-party administrators and complainant's solicitors
Support conciliations, learning how to represent HESTA as the Trustee representative
Investigate root causes and help identify patterns in disputes to support continuous improvement
Contribute to written responses, submissions and release agreements, developing your legal writing along the way
About you
You're a recent law graduate with sharp written communication skills, sound judgement and the resilience to handle sensitive, sometimes emotional situations with care. You're eager to learn, comfortable managing your own workload, and ready to build trust with stakeholders as you grow into the role.
A completed law degree (essential)
Genuine enthusiasm for dispute resolution or complaints handling, even without direct experience
A proactive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn from an experienced team
If you've recently graduated with a law degree (but do not hold a practising certificate) and are looking for your first step into dispute resolution, complaints handling or insurance law, we'd love to hear from you.
