Introduction
Based in Corowa, but will work across the Federation Council area
Full-time fixed term (3 years) - 76 hours/fortnight.
Assist Council in providing the Community with an essential service.

Traineeships and apprenticeships are excellent stepping stones into the workforce. We are offering an opportunity to gain a Certificate III in Water Industry Operations specialising in wastewater treatment.
You will gain hands-on experience in the operation and maintenance of the Federation Councils wastewater treatment plants, wastewater and storm water pumping stations, and re-use irrigation schemes in accordance with Council requirements. You will also assist in maintaining our water and wastewater reticulation networks, reservoirs and pumping stations.
Upon completing your formal training and hands-on learning, you will have:
a nationally recognised qualification.
valuable practical work experience.
Opportunities to apply for future roles within Federation Council or the broader industry.
Current Year 12 students are encouraged to apply. Start dates can be flexibly arranged around final school commitments.
Essential Key Criteria To Be Addressed In Applications
Successfully completed Maths in Year 11 or Year 12.
Hold a Construction Induction certificate (White Card).
Demonstrate a genuine interest in a career in the water and wastewater industry;
Hold a current and valid class "C" driver's licence or Provisional.
Demonstrated experience in the use of Microsoft Office (in particular,



word and excel).
Knowledge of WHS practices and ability to participate in a protected working environment.
Be available for rostered overtime work on weekends and public holidays, and emergency call outs outside normal work hours.

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Council's policies and conditions of employment. The wages will be in accordance with Award provisions for Trainees and these will be determined by the applicants age and level of schooling.
Applicants 17 years of age will commence on level T3, currently $****** per week. Applicants 18 years of age or over and/or possessing the HSC will commence on level T4, currently $****** per week. Standard allowances and superannuation are additional. Annual progression through the Trainee scale is subject to successful course progress and performance.
Rostered on-call, overtime and out of hours responses attract additional remuneration.
