The agency supports the NSW Trustee, the Public Guardian and the Commissioner of Dormant Funds to carry out their statutory functions. About the team
Financial Performance and Investments comprises teams supporting the financial and investment needs of our clients as well as maintaining, enhancing, and protecting their assets. These services cover the management of properties, shares, investments, and other personal assets; the processing of customer and third-party payments and receipts; the handling of a range of taxation matters; developing financial plans and budgets to support our customers; and providing corporate frameworks, tools and services for Procurement, Project Management Governance, and Budgeting and Reporting to the organisation.
About the role
The Solicitor V (Property) provides expert legal advice and transactional services in the area of real property law and conveyancing, supporting NSW Trustee and Guardian and its customers. The role leads complex and sensitive property matters, provides guidance to legal and administrative staff,



and contributes to the continuous improvement of legal practices, policies and procedures.
This is an exciting prospect that will see you:
Provide high-quality legal advice and transactional services across a broad range of property law and conveyancing matters, including complex and sensitive cases.
Manage complex property transactions, including residential, commercial and rural property sales and purchases, leasing matters, and other real property dealings.
Undertake legal research, prepare legal documentation and provide practical advice to internal and external stakeholders on property law matters.
Act as a technical expert and escalation point, providing guidance, mentoring and support to solicitors, paralegals and administrative staff.
Lead and develop a team to deliver high-quality legal services while maintaining professional standards, compliance obligations and organisational priorities.
Contribute to the development and review of legal policies, procedures, precedents and training materials to support continuous improvement and best practice.
Build and maintain effective relationships with customers, legal professionals, government agencies and other stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes.
Ensure compliance with legal, professional and practice management requirements, including governance, risk management and record-keeping obligations.
Work collaboratively across the organisation to support the management and protection of customer assets and deliver quality outcomes for customers and stakeholders.
Application is encouraged if you demonstrate the following skills, knowledge and experience:
Admission as a legal practitioner in NSW with a current practising certificate and at least five years' post-qualification experience.
Demonstrated experience in property law and conveyancing,



including the management of complex property transactions and legal matters.
Strong knowledge of residential, commercial and rural property transactions, leasing matters and related property law issues.
Ability to provide accurate, practical and timely legal advice to a range of internal and external stakeholders.
Proven experience building and maintaining effective stakeholder relationships and managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Experience providing advice on aged care agreements and payments, and the conduct of retirement village sales and purchases, would be highly regarded.
Experience leading, mentoring or supervising legal and administrative staff would be highly regarded.
Experience using conveyancing and property law systems, including PEXA and NSW Land Registry Services.
