If you're an experienced Project Manager who understands commercial landscape construction from the ground up, this is an opportunity to take ownership of quality projects from planning right through to handover.You'll be joining an established landscape contractor delivering commercial landscape projects across Queensland, with responsibility for the program, budget, contracts, clients and overall project delivery.This isn't a purely office-based Project Manager role.
Your practical understanding of how landscape projects are actually built will be important.
You'll work closely with Site Managers, Supervisors and subcontractors, providing the commercial leadership and technical direction needed to keep projects moving.The role requires strong commercial and contract administration capability combined with practical knowledge across both hard and soft landscape construction.

$120,000–$130,000 + superCompany vehicle providedPermanent, full time positionBrisbane-based commercial landscape roleTake projects from planning through to completionGenuine ownership of budgets, programs and project performanceDiverse hard and soft landscape constructionWork with experienced Site Managers and construction teamsOpportunity to mentor and develop future Project ManagersEstablished landscape contractor with ongoing project opportunitiesRole combining technical, commercial and leadership responsibilitiesThe RoleAs Commercial Landscape Project Manager, you'll take responsibility for the planning, execution and successful delivery of landscape construction projects.You'll manage projects to ensure they are delivered on time, within budget and to the required quality standard, while maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and your internal project teams.
Your responsibilities will include:Developing project programs, budgets and procurement schedulesPlanning labour, plant, equipment and subcontractor requirementsManaging project costs and protecting project marginsMonitoring construction progress against programManaging subcontractors and suppliersContract administration including RFIs,



EOTs and variationsPreparing and managing progress claimsIdentifying commercial and project risks earlyManaging client relationships and expectationsLeading project and progress meetingsCoordinating with Site Managers and SupervisorsMaintaining accurate project reporting and documentationManaging quality, safety and compliance requirementsTaking projects through to successful handoverThe position has genuine commercial accountability, including cost forecasting, variations, contractual correspondence and ensuring project performance remains aligned with the original tender.
You'll Know How the Work Is BuiltThis is an important part of the role.We're not looking for someone who manages projects purely from a spreadsheet.You'll need a sound practical understanding of commercial landscape construction and be comfortable providing technical direction to site teams and subcontractors.Your knowledge should extend across areas such as:PavingConcrete formwork and placementRetaining wallsBlockworkFencingIrrigation and drainageSetout, levels and fallsSoil preparationPlantingTurf establishmentConstruction sequencing and methodologyYou'll be able to interpret drawings and specifications, identify buildability issues and help resolve technical problems before they impact the program, budget or finished product.
Commercial & Contract ManagementAlongside the construction knowledge, you'll need to be commercially capable.You'll be responsible for monitoring project costs against approved budgets, forecasting, reviewing subcontractor and supplier costs and identifying opportunities to protect project margins.You'll also manage:RFIsExtension of Time submissionsVariation claimsProgress claimsContractual correspondenceDelays and program risksProject records and reportingYou'll be expected to identify issues early rather than waiting until they become problems and work closely with senior management and site teams to keep projects commercially and operationally on track.RequirementsAbout YouYou'll ideally have at least five years' Project Management experience within commercial landscaping or civil construction, along with the technical understanding to confidently work with experienced construction teams.
We're looking for someone with:Strong commercial landscape or civil construction experiencePractical knowledge across hard and soft landscapingAbility to read and interpret construction drawings and specificationsStrong project planning and programming skillsBudget and cost-management experienceContract administration experienceExperience with RFIs, EOTs and variation claimsStrong client and stakeholder management skillsExperience managing subcontractors and site-based teamsSound understanding of SWMS, quality and construction complianceAbility to manage multiple projects concurrentlyStrong communication, leadership and problem-solving skillsA qualification in Landscape Construction, Horticulture, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline would be highly regarded.Experience delivering landscape construction projects in Queensland, including exposure to TMR specifications, would also be advantageous but isn't essential.
