What you'll be doing
The GPPL program aims to support stronger collaboration between specialist Drug and Alcohol Services, General Practitioners (GPs), General Practices, and community Pharmacies within MNCLHD.
The GPPL Clinical Nurse Consultant will work closely with the Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) to provide clinical consultancy between the program and potential community providers.
About You
You present yourself as a highly experienced and clinically confident nursing professional who brings more than five years of full‐time post‐registration practice supported by approved post‐graduate qualifications in your specialty field.
Your background reflects a depth of expertise recognised by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and strengthened by the advanced training and experience deemed appropriate for senior clinical roles within NSW Health.
You demonstrate high‐level capability in drug and alcohol nursing, with refined skills in assessment, withdrawal management, opioid and other pharmacotherapies, psychosocial interventions, consultation liaison and comprehensive treatment planning.
You work with assurance in complex clinical environments,



applying evidence‐based practice and contemporary NSW Health policies to deliver safe, structured and effective care for clients with diverse needs.
You provide leadership that is both practical and grounded in clinical evidence.
Your approach to developing and guiding clinical practice supports service improvement, professional accountability and alignment with current guidelines.
You communicate with clarity and purpose, engaging clients, carers, general practitioners, community pharmacies and a wide range of health providers in a manner that strengthens collaboration and continuity of care.
You bring experience in identifying training needs and delivering education that builds capability in drug and alcohol clinical skills.
Your ability to teach, mentor and support others contributes to a culture of learning and qualified growth across the service.
You work effectively within multidisciplinary teams, maintaining a strong focus on service delivery, quality of care and team cohesion.
You recognise opportunities to enhance continuity of care between acute services, primary care and community‐based supports, and you act on these opportunities with initiative and sound judgement.




You hold a current NSW driver's licence and demonstrate the willingness and flexibility to travel for work purposes, reflecting your commitment to meeting service needs across varied settings.
