About the Role

Terry White Chemmart Palmerston is seeking an experienced and motivated Retail Manager to lead the day-to-day retail operations of our busy community pharmacy.

This is a hands-on leadership position with responsibility for our retail team, customer service standards, store presentation, inventory management, rostering, staff development and the overall commercial performance of the retail business.

Working closely with the Pharmacist Manager and Pharmacy Owner, you will have the opportunity to take genuine ownership of the retail operation and play an important role in the ongoing performance and development of the pharmacy.

Key Responsibilities

As Retail Manager, your responsibilities will include:

Leading, supporting and developing the retail pharmacy team

Managing day-to-day retail operations and ensuring the store operates efficiently

Preparing and managing staff rosters in accordance with operational requirements and wage budgets

Setting clear expectations for team members and monitoring performance and accountability

Conducting staff performance reviews and identifying training and development requirements

Driving a strong customer-service culture throughout the pharmacy

Monitoring retail sales, gross profit, wages and other key performance indicators

Working with the Pharmacist Manager and Pharmacy Owner to identify and implement opportunities to improve business performance

Coordinating Terry White Chemmart promotional activity, catalogue execution and merchandising

Maintaining high standards of store presentation, pricing and planogram compliance

Overseeing inventory management including stock variances, gap scanning, expiry management, dead stock, overstock and clearance activity

Supporting the promotion of Terry White Chemmart health services, myTWC and the Rewards Program

Ensuring required operational checklists,



training and compliance activities are completed

Maintaining compliance with pharmacy procedures, workplace health and safety requirements and relevant regulatory standards

Communicating effectively with staff, pharmacists, suppliers, company representatives and the Terry White Chemmart network

About You

We are looking for someone who enjoys taking responsibility for a business and its team.

You will ideally have:

Previous experience in retail management, pharmacy management or a senior retail leadership position

Strong leadership and people-management skills

The confidence to set expectations, provide feedback and manage staff performance

Solid organisational and time-management skills

A commercial mindset and an understanding of sales, gross profit, wages and retail KPIs

Experience with stock control, merchandising and inventory management

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Confidence using point-of-sale systems and other retail technology

The ability to prioritise and remain organised in a busy retail environment

A proactive, practical and solutions-focused approach

A genuine commitment to delivering excellent customer service

Previous community pharmacy experience and pharmacy product knowledge will be highly regarded, although applicants with strong management experience from other retail environments are also encouraged to apply.
