Ready for the next step? Make sure it's worth it.
There comes a point in your structural engineering career where simply becoming better technically isn't enough.
The projects you work on, the responsibility you're given and the people you're learning from start determining where your career will be five years from now.
A respected Sydney engineering consultancy is looking for a Structural Engineer with approximately 4-6 years' local experience to join a growing building structures team.
The opportunity will give you exposure across a diverse portfolio of residential and commercial developments while progressively giving you greater ownership of projects.
Projects may include:
- Commercial buildings and offices
- Retail and other building structures
- Reinforced concrete structures
- Structural steel developments
You'll work alongside experienced senior engineers while increasingly taking responsibility for your own designs, project coordination and delivery.
Your involvement will include:
- Structural analysis and design
- Reinforced concrete and structural steel design
- Taking projects and design packages from concept through documentation
- Coordinating with architects and other engineering disciplines
- Attending design and project meetings
- Responding to construction and site-related issues
- Working directly with clients as your experience develops
- Assisting and mentoring more junior engineers
We're looking for someone who has developed a solid technical foundation within an Australian structural consultancy and is now ready for greater responsibility.
Ideally, you will have:
- Around 4-6 years' local structural engineering experience
- Experience across residential and/or commercial building structures
- Robust reinforced concrete and structural steel fundamentals
- Good structural analysis and design capability
- Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence to take increasing ownership of projects
- A genuine ambition to progress towards Senior Structural Engineer
The important difference is where the role can take you.
You won't simply be brought in to produce calculations and drawings. The intention is to develop you further across technical engineering, project management, client relationships and leadership so you can make the transition towards Senior Engineer.
For an ambitious Structural Engineer who feels they have learned what they can in their current environment, this could provide the broader exposure and responsibility needed to accelerate the next stage of their career.
*Note* Only Australian / New Zealand applicants with local experience are encouraged to apply.
