Title:Educational Assistant: EL
Description: Provide assistance in the implementation of the language assistance program through collaboration with the contact-area teachers.

- Ability to communicate effectively before groups of students, teachers, staff and parents

- Ability to work independently and as a team to complete tasks in a timely manner
- Ability to follow oral and/or written directions
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide support to EL students with regular classes outside of the core language assistance program through collaboration with the content-are teachers
- Support students both individually and in groups as directed by the EL Coordinator and regular classroom teachers
- Assist in fostering understanding and respect for a variety of cultural backgrounds
- Observe classroom teacher's instruction and then supplement support for EL students in the classroom
- Assist with pupil behavior under the direction of the certified teacher
- Meet regularly with the EL Coordinator for training to ensure consistent teaching practices throughout the EL program
- Demonstrate the ability to work harmoniously with all persons in the school and community
- Participate in meetings as required
- Promote a positive and professional image of the district at all times
- Follow all rules, policies, procedures and guidelines of Fairfield Community Schools
- Perform duties as assigned by the EL Coordinator and building principal
- Support from the EL Education Assistant is in addition to ELD services provided by the licensed EL Coordinator/Teacher
- Other duties as assigned by building principal and/or supervisor
Requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age
- Have at least a high school diploma or GED
- Complete and pass an Expanded Criminal Background and CPS Check
Compensation:
- Competitive pay based upon experience
- This position is a grant funded position
Contracted days:
- 180 school days plus any required classified staff workdays per school year
Hours:
37.5 hours per week
Reports to:Building Principal and/or Building Supervisor and the EL Coordinator
