About the Role

Flinders University is seeking an experienced Advanced Projects Manager (Engineering) to lead the planning, development and delivery of complex engineering, manufacturing and technical projects across research, industry engagement, defence-related activities and specialist capabilities. Embedded within Engineering and Manufacturing Services, you will lead projects from concept and business case development through procurement, installation, commissioning and operational readiness. You will provide technical leadership across specialised equipment, facilities and systems, while leading a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technicians and project staff to deliver safe, innovative and high-quality outcomes.

In this position

- Lead complex engineering, manufacturing and technical projects from concept to delivery.
- Manage budgets, procurement, risk, resources, commissioning and operational readiness.
- Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technicians and project staff.
- Oversee specialised facilities and equipment, ensuring safety, compliance, reliability and continuous improvement.
- Build strong relationships with researchers, industry partners, suppliers and contractors to deliver successful project outcomes.

About You

You are an experienced engineering, technical or project leader with a proven track record delivering complex projects in specialised technical, manufacturing, research or facilities environments.



You bring strong technical expertise, commercial and financial awareness, and the leadership capability to manage multidisciplinary teams and diverse stakeholders.

You will demonstrate

- Proven experience delivering complex engineering, manufacturing, technical or research projects.
- Strong project management capability across budgets, procurement, risk, resources and commissioning.
- Experience leading and developing multidisciplinary technical teams.
- Experience working with specialised equipment, facilities, laboratories, workshops or manufacturing environments.
- Strong communication, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills, with a commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.
