About the role
Join Ward 9 East, a 20-bed acute medical unit, including 14 single negative pressure rooms, with patients admitted from the Emergency Department or directly from the community.
As a Grade 2 Registered Nurse, you’ll care for patients with communicable illnesses, gastroenterology, rheumatology and immunological conditions, working alongside a supportive multidisciplinary team. You’ll provide clinical assessment, direct patient care and education, while ensuring safe, high-quality care aligned with The Royal Melbourne Hospital values.
Key Accountabilities
- Deliver person-centred care aligned with RMH values and individual patient, consumer and family needs.
- Maintain your own and others’ safety and wellbeing, working within scope of practice and seeking support when required.
- Collaborate with patients, carers, families and multidisciplinary teams to achieve high-quality outcomes.
About You
You are a Grade 2 Registered Nurse with a completed graduate year and current AHPRA registration, bringing:
- Collaborative practice within a multidisciplinary healthcare team
- A strong commitment to delivering high-quality patient care
- Well-developed assessment, clinical reasoning, problem-solving and prioritisation skills
- Motivation and willingness to learn and develop
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliability and a high standard of professional conduct
Desirable
- Recent experience in acute medical nursing, Infectious Diseases and/or Gastroenterology
- Recent experience caring for patients experiencing alcohol and/or drug dependence
