The Organisation

Our client is a highly regarded not-for-profit organisation providing a broad range of health, wellbeing and community-based services across Melbourne.

This is a genuinely lovely organisation with a strong community focus, a supportive culture and an experienced, approachable finance team. With plenty happening across the organisation, they are now looking for an experienced Billing & Accounts Receivable Officer to provide additional support during a particularly busy period.

Based in Melbourne’s north eastern suburbs, the office is conveniently located close to a train station, with parking also available. The location will be particularly attractive to candidates based in Melbourne’s north, east or north eastern suburbs.

The Position

This is an immediate-start temporary opportunity, initially for approximately 6–8 weeks, although there is a strong possibility that the assignment could extend.

Working closely with a supportive manager and broader finance team, the position will provide near end-to-end support across billing and accounts receivable, with a particularly strong emphasis on reconciliations.

The organisation operates across a number of different funding and billing arrangements, while information within its CRM and finance systems does not always align perfectly. As a result, we are looking for someone with excellent attention to detail who enjoys investigating discrepancies, resolving exceptions and ensuring accounts are accurate.

Responsibilities are likely to include:

- Completing detailed accounts receivable and billing reconciliations

- Investigating and resolving discrepancies between CRM and finance systems
- Preparing and processing customer invoices
- Managing billing exceptions and resolving outstanding issues
- Processing claims and assisting with funding-related billing
- Following up outstanding accounts and supporting debt management activities
- Managing shared inboxes and responding to internal and external queries
- Maintaining accurate customer and account information
- Assisting with other accounts receivable and transactional finance duties as required

Why Apply? This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounts receivable professional looking to secure an immediate-start assignment with a genuinely supportive and purpose-driven organisation.

You will benefit from

- $39–$42 per hour + superannuation
- An immediate start, potentially from Friday 18 September
- An initial 6–8 week assignment with genuine potential to extend
- Hybrid working, typically 2–3 days from home each week
- A convenient north eastern suburbs location close to public transport
- On-site parking
- A friendly, supportive manager and established finance team
- Broad exposure across billing, reconciliations, collections and accounts receivable

- The opportunity to work within a respected not-for-profit organisation making a positive contribution to the community

Your Profile To be successful in this position, you will have previous experience in a billing and/or accounts receivable role and be confident working across a reasonably complex transactional environment. Of particular importance will be your ability to complete detailed reconciliations, investigate discrepancies and work accurately across multiple systems and sources of information.

We are ideally looking for someone who can demonstrate:

- Previous accounts receivable and billing experience
- Strong reconciliation skills and excellent attention to detail
- Experience working with complex billing or multiple funding arrangements
- Good systems literacy and confidence learning recent systems
- Intermediate Excel skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A professional, polite and customer-focused approach
- The ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a team

Previous experience within community health, healthcare, NDIS, disability, aged care or another funded services environment would be highly regarded, particularly where you have worked with different funding or claims models. However, this is not essential. Importantly, this is an urgent requirement and we are only considering candidates who are available to commence immediately. Candidates currently required to provide notice to an employer will unfortunately not be suitable for this particular assignment.
