Forster & Mayo Private Hospitals – Mid North Coast NSW February 2027 – February 2028 6-Month Placement Option: February 2027 – August 2027 AFRM Accredited Training Position | Potential for Ongoing Employment

Sante Recruitment is pleased to present an excellent opportunity for an Accredited Rehabilitation Registrar to join the rehabilitation services of Forster & Mayo Private Hospitals , located on the beautiful Mid North Coast of New South Wales.

This is an AFRM-recognised rehabilitation training position , offering the opportunity to develop advanced skills across a broad and diverse rehabilitation caseload while working alongside experienced Rehabilitation Physicians, a Geriatrician and a highly skilled multidisciplinary team.

There is flexibility around the duration of the appointment, with a 6-month placement from February to August 2027 available, as well as the option for a 12-month appointment through to February 2028 .

There may also be an opportunity for permanent employment and continued training following successful completion of the placement.

The Opportunity Rehabilitation medicine is a major focus of the hospitals and is delivered through dedicated inpatient and outpatient services across Forster and Mayo Private Hospitals .

The rehabilitation service provides exposure to a broad range of clinical presentations, including:

- Geriatric rehabilitation
- Orthopaedic rehabilitation
- Neurological rehabilitation
- Multi-trauma rehabilitation
- Traumatic brain injury (TBI)
- Cancer rehabilitation
- Cardiac rehabilitation
- Pulmonary rehabilitation
- Amputee rehabilitation
- Reconditioning and complex rehabilitation

The service currently has two Rehabilitation Physicians and one Geriatrician , supported by experienced nursing, allied health and medical teams. There are up to 1.0 FTE AFRM/RACP-recognised rehabilitation registrar hours available across the two hospitals.

The role provides excellent exposure to the multidisciplinary nature of rehabilitation medicine and the management of patients transitioning from acute hospital care through to rehabilitation and community-based recovery. Your Responsibilities The Successful Candidate Will Participate In

- Assessment and ongoing management of rehabilitation patients
- Multidisciplinary team meetings and case conferences
- Family meetings and communication with carers
- Liaison with acute hospital teams and other treating specialists
- Development and implementation of rehabilitation management plans
- Clinical handover and discharge planning
- Medical education and supervision
- Teaching medical students and allied health professionals
- Contribution to clinical governance and quality improvement
- Participation in the medical on-call roster

The role offers the opportunity to build both clinical expertise and leadership skills within a supportive rehabilitation environment. Essential Criteria Applicants Must Have

- Current AHPRA registration
- Enrolment or eligibility to enrol as an AFRM Trainee
- Site-specific provider number eligibility
- Experience participating in consultations, case conferences and family conferences
- Experience liaising with acute hospital teams
- Demonstrated commitment to clinical education and teaching of medical undergraduates and allied health professionals
- Sound computer literacy, including desktop applications and patient management systems
- Strong leadership and team-oriented interpersonal skills
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills

Desirable

- Previous experience in rehabilitation medicine
- Ability to participate in approximately one night of on-call per week and one weekend per month as a CMO
