Applications are welcomed from Registered Nurses, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists and Psychologists. Mildura Base Public Hospital is seeking an experienced and passionate Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Clinician to join our multidisciplinary Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (AMHWS).

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering specialist AOD assessment, treatment and support to individuals experiencing substance use challenges and co-occurring mental health conditions. Working as part of a collaborative treatment team, you will provide evidence-based, person-centred care to consumers, their families and carers across hospital, community and specialist AOD services.

About the Role

As an AOD Clinician, you will:

- Deliver comprehensive clinical assessments and treatment interventions for consumers with substance use disorders.
- Work within a multidisciplinary shared-care model to support individuals with co-occurring mental health and AOD concerns.
- Provide coordinated care across hospital, community and specialist AOD services within The Local.
- Apply contemporary evidence-based approaches to treatment, recovery and relapse prevention.
- Collaborate closely with consumers, carers, families and external service providers to achieve positive outcomes.
- Participate in flexible service delivery models, including outreach and home-based support when required.

This role may involve working extended hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet service needs.



The position is classified as either a Registered Nurse Grade 3 or Allied Health Grade 3 under the Victorian Public Mental Health Services Enterprise Agreement, or a Psychologist Grade 3 under the Medical Scientists, Pharmacists and Psychologists Victorian Public Sector Enterprise Agreement. Classification will be determined based on the successful applicant's qualifications, registration and relevant experience.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Essential:

- Approved degree and registration with APHPRA or relevant registration body.
- Clinical experience working with consumers with substance use disorders.
- Understanding of evidence-based interventions for substance use disorders and experience in their implementation.
- Knowledge of harm reduction principles, trauma-informed care, and recovery-oriented approaches.
- Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and build rapport.
- Capacity to collaborate with all stakeholders to achieve effectiveness and efficiency of services.
- Knowledge of quality improvement Australian Standards.
- Ability to collect data and prepare reports and recommendations.
- Sound computer skills.

Desirable:

- A post graduate qualification in Drug and Alcohol nursing or a willingness to complete.
