About the role

Banjo's Bakery Cafe is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Apprentice Baker to join our baking team in Rosny Park, Tasmania. This is a part-time position that offers an excellent opportunity to launch your career in the baking and pastry industry. As an Apprentice Baker, you will work alongside experienced bakers, learning traditional and modern baking techniques while contributing to the production of high-quality breads, pastries, and baked goods.

This role is integral to our operation, as you will help maintain the quality and consistency of products that our customers love and expect from Banjo's Bakery Cafe.

Key responsibilities

- Assisting in the preparation and baking of various bread types, pastries, and cakes according to established recipes and quality standards
- Learning and practicing essential baking techniques, including dough preparation, shaping, proofing, and oven management
- Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of the bakery workspace, including proper sanitisation of equipment and work surfaces
- Preparing ingredients and components for baking, including weighing, measuring, and mixing
- Assisting with inventory management and monitoring stock levels of baking supplies and materials
- Supporting the baking team during peak production periods to meet daily orders and customer demand
- Learning about food safety protocols and implementing best practices in the bakery environment
- Developing customer service skills through interaction with team members and, where applicable, customers

What we're looking for

- A genuine passion for baking and the desire to develop expertise in the craft
- Willingness to learn and commitment to completing a formal baking apprenticeship programme
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow recipes and instructions precisely
- Physical capability to perform baking duties, including standing for extended periods and handling heavy bags of flour and other ingredients




- Excellent time management and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced workplace
- A positive attitude, reliability, and strong work ethic
- Ability to work as part of a team and take direction from experienced bakers
- Basic mathematics skills for measuring and scaling recipes
- Preferably, some prior experience in a kitchen, hospitality, or food production workplace (though not essential)
- Flexibility to work early morning shifts, as is typical in bakery operations
