Adelaide

Get paid to become a chef — and get there 18 months sooner.

Most chef apprenticeships take four years. This one takes 30 months. You'll earn a wage from your first day, train in a real Adelaide kitchen, and finish with a nationally recognised Certificate III in Commercial Cookery — with no student debt.

A South Australian Skills Commission initiative

This is the Industry Accelerated Apprenticeship Pilot (IAAP) — an initiative of the South Australian Skills Commission and an Australian first, designed to fast-track apprentices into high-demand industries without lowering the standard of training. The Commercial Cookery pathway is delivered with the support of the Australian Hotels Association (SA).

Who you'll be working with

Alliance Group Training Organisation (AGTO) is your employer. We're a Group Training Organisation approved by the South Australian Skills Commission. We pay your wages, hold your Training Contract, and place you with one of our partner venues — so if a placement ever changes, your apprenticeship and your job continue with us.

Alliance College, our Registered Training Organisation, delivers your training and assessment towards the Certificate III.

What you get

- A paid, full time apprenticeship from day one, at award wages that increase as you progress
- Your Certificate III in Commercial Cookery in 30 months instead of 48

- Paid time off the floor to attend training — you're not studying in your own time
- A real Adelaide kitchen, with a qualified chef supervising you
- A dedicated Field Officer who checks in on you,

sorts out problems and is not your boss at the venue

- Uniform and protective equipment supplied

What we're looking for

- Someone genuinely interested in food and cooking
- Reliable — you turn up, on time, ready to work

- Willing to learn and take direction in a fast-paced kitchen
- Wanting a career, not just a job

No experience needed. Whether you're finishing school, changing careers, or coming back to work, we want to hear from you.

You'll need to be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen to do an Australian Apprenticeship.
