About the role
We're looking for an Associate Cloud Engineer to join our Information Technology team and help support, maintain and improve our cloud environments. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career cloud professional looking to develop their skills in AWS, Azure, automation, and DevOps practices while contributing to systems that support critical internet infrastructure.
Reporting to the Manager, IT Operations, you'll support cloud operations, infrastructure automation, deployment activities, monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Support the implementation, maintenance and operation of AWS cloud and Azure infrastructure using approved standards, designs and patterns
- Assist with the reliable operation of cloud services including compute, storage, networking, identity, monitoring and logging
- Perform routine Linux and Windows Server administration, patching, configuration updates and operational maintenance across cloud-hosted systems
- Monitor cloud environments, respond to alerts and escalate complex issues or risks to senior engineers as required
- Build, update and deploy AMIs using Packer and agreed DevOps deployment pipelines
- Maintain and improve Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform and Ansible
- Automate repeatable operational tasks using scripting and approved automation practices
- Identify opportunities to streamline manual, inefficient or repeatable operational processes
- Contribute to improvements in runbooks, standard operating procedures and technical documentation
- Follow approved security, access management,
patching and configuration practices when working across cloud environments
About you You are a motivated technology professional who enjoys solving problems, learning new technologies and working collaboratively with others.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Associate or bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, a closely related field or appropriate commercial experience
- 2–3 years' experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure operations, systems administration, DevOps or a related technical role
- Practical exposure to AWS services such as EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, Lambda and CloudWatch
- Basic-to-intermediate Linux and Windows Server administration skills, including patching, configuration, shell scripting and routine operational support
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code and automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible and Packer
- Experience with DevOps practices, version control and deployment pipelines, such as GitLab, GitHub or Azure DevOps
- Exposure to Docker for building, packaging and running containerised applications
- Working experience with logging and monitoring solutions
- Cloud certification or demonstrated progress towards certification is preferred, such as AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)
- Must successfully complete pre-employment vetting including National Police Check, Right to Work verification, Bankruptcy check and AusCheck
