At ACT Decks, we build high-quality outdoor living spaces across Canberra and surrounds — from custom decks and pergolas to pool surrounds and larger outdoor construction projects. We’re known for quality workmanship, great service and a team that takes pride in what we build.

We’re now looking for a qualified and experienced Carpenter to join us as a Site Lead.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who knows their trade, takes pride in their work and is ready to take ownership of the day-to-day running of their projects.

What the Role Involves

You’ll work closely with our Project Manager while taking the lead onsite, including:

- Leading the day-to-day delivery of decking, pergola and outdoor construction projects.
- Working hands-on alongside the crew while overseeing site operations.
- Coordinating Carpenters, Apprentices, Labourers and subcontractors onsite.
- Allocating daily tasks and keeping the team productive and on track.
- Reading and working from approved plans, specifications and project requirements.
- Monitoring workmanship and making sure work meets ACT Decks' quality standards.
- Identifying issues early and working with the Project Manager to find practical solutions.
- Managing material and equipment requirements and keeping the Project Manager updated on project progress.
- Maintaining clean, organised and safe worksites.
- Leading by example when it comes to workmanship, professionalism, safety and attitude.

What We’re Looking For

- Qualified Carpenter.
- Strong residential construction experience, ideally across decks, pergolas or outdoor structures.
- Experience leading a crew, supervising others or taking responsibility for the delivery of a job.
- Confident reading and working from construction plans.
- Strong attention to detail and a genuine pride in quality workmanship.
- Able to plan ahead, identify potential issues and keep projects moving.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Reliable, organised and able to take ownership of your site.
- Positive attitude and willingness to support Apprentices and less experienced team members.
- White Card.
- Asbestos Awareness and Silica Awareness certificates.
- Valid Australian driver's licence.
