We’re looking for a warm, confident and well-presented Casual Retail Assistant to join our small team across our Wilston Village and Brisbane City stores.

This role would suit someone who is studying, has an evening job, or has other commitments and is looking for a flexible role with a regular roster.

About Mumbleberry

Mumbleberry is a gourmet providore and gifting business specialising in Australian-made food, beautiful homewares, handmade ceramics and thoughtful gifting.

We like to think we blend traditional retail with hospitality. Our stores are about more than simply selling products — we want customers to feel welcomed, have a chat, discover something new and enjoy the experience of being in our stores.

They can touch and feel handmade pottery, smell locally made soaps and candles, discover wonderful Australian producers and create their own gorgeous gift box of Australian-made goodies.

We’re a small team who genuinely enjoy what we do, care about our customers and love supporting Australian makers and producers. We’re also supportive of our team having lives outside Mumbleberry. We like a reliable, set roster, but understand that our team may also have study, other jobs, family and other commitments.

About the role

As a Retail Assistant, you’ll be an important part of the customer experience and will be involved in the day to day running of the stores.

Your responsibilities will include

- Welcoming customers and creating a warm, friendly shopping experience




- Building rapport with customers and confidently making product recommendations
- Helping customers choose gifts, food and homewares
- Creating beautiful gift boxes and hampers to order
- Learning about our Australian producers and being able to talk knowledgeably about our products
- Restocking and maintaining presentation standards
- Merchandising and maintaining attractive displays
- General retail duties including opening/closing, cleaning and keeping the store organised
- Processing sales and assisting with day to day store operations

For the right person with relevant experience, there may also be opportunities for extra hours to assist with Shopify product additions and social media content.

About you

We’re looking for someone who:

- Has previous retail or hospitality experience
- Is naturally friendly, warm and confident speaking with customers
- Has strong English and communication skills
- Can have a genuine conversation with customers and make thoughtful recommendations
- Is well presented and takes pride in their appearance
- Has an interest in gourmet food, hospitality, gifting and beautiful things
- Has good attention to detail and takes pride in store presentation
- Is reliable, responsible and happy to get stuck into whatever needs doing
- Is comfortable working independently as well as being part of a small team
- Is available to work most weekends
- Is genuinely interested in Australian-made food and supporting small local producers





You don’t need to be a food expert when you start, but you do need to be curious, interested and happy to learn. Hours & availability

- minimum 15 hours a week, up to 35 weekly
- Casual position
- Shifts are generally around 5 hours
- Most shifts finish by 5:30pm
- Work will be shared between our Wilston Village and Brisbane City stores
- Availability for most weekends is essential
- We aim to provide a regular, predictable roster while working around reasonable study and other work commitments

- Retail Award Level 2–4, depending on experience

A driver's licence is not required. Both stores are conveniently located close to public transport, with train stations and bus routes nearby. Why work with us?
