About the role

We are seeking an experienced Chef to join our fantastic team at The Other Side in Port Macquarie, NSW. This is a full-time position that offers the perfect opportunity to showcase your culinary expertise in a dynamic hospitality environment. Our restaurant is inspired by the food and wine of Southern Italy and we are located across the road from beautiful Town Beach.

As Chef, you will be responsible for leading the kitchen operations, maintaining exceptional standards of food preparation and presentation, and ensuring every dish reflects the quality and values that define The Other Side. This role is central to delivering outstanding guest experiences and driving the success of our food and beverage operations.

Key responsibilities

- Plan, prepare and cook a wide variety of dishes, maintaining consistency and quality standards
- Oversee kitchen operations and manage food preparation processes to ensure efficiency and food safety compliance
- Manage kitchen inventory, stock rotation and food ordering in coordination with management
- Train, supervise and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and professional working environment
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, adhering to health and safety regulations
- Develop and refine recipes and menu items, contributing creative ideas to enhance our offerings
- Ensure food is prepared to specification and presented according to establishment standards
- Monitor portion control and minimise food wastage
- Work collaboratively with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery

What we're looking for

- Proven experience working as a Chef or in a senior kitchen role within a hospitality setting
- Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards and relevant legislation
- Proficiency in a range of cooking techniques and culinary methods




- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure
- Leadership experience with the ability to motivate and develop kitchen team members
- Creativity and passion for food, with an interest in menu development and culinary innovation
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across all departments
- Relevant culinary qualifications or certifications are highly desirable
- A commitment to maintaining the highest standards of food quality and presentation
