About the role

Virginia Nursery is seeking a talented Chef or Experienced Cook to join the team at Doncho's Cafe in Virginia, SA 5120. This is a full-time position offering an exciting opportunity to showcase your culinary expertise in a welcoming café environment. You will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality meals that delight our guests, whilst maintaining the highest standards of food safety and presentation.

This role is central to delivering an exceptional dining experience that keeps customers returning to our establishment.

What you'll be doing

- Preparing, cooking and plating a variety of meals according to established recipes and menu specifications
- Maintaining a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen environment in compliance with food safety regulations
- Managing food inventory, ordering supplies and minimising food waste
- Collaborating with front-of-house staff to ensure timely and accurate meal service
- Adapting to special dietary requirements and customer requests with professionalism and care
- Training and mentoring junior kitchen staff as required
- Consistently delivering quality dishes that meet Virginia Nursery's high culinary standards
- Operating kitchen equipment safely and efficiently

What we're looking for

- Proven experience working as a chef or cook in a professional kitchen environment
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and menu development
- Excellent understanding of food safety, hygiene practices and relevant regulations
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure whilst maintaining quality standards




- Robust organisational and time management skills
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and public holidays as required
- A passion for creating delicious, well-presented food
- Relevant culinary qualifications or certifications (preferred)
- Experience working in café or casual dining environments (advantageous)
