About the Position
Reporting to the Team Leader Civic Governance, the Civic Governance Systems and Projects Coordinator is responsible for coordinating civic governance systems, improvement projects and services that support Council's governance framework and elected member operations.
The position provides project coordination, system administration, reporting, procedural support and practical governance guidance to the Civic Governance team and elected members.
A key focus of the role is coordinating Council's operational election preparation, delivery and post-election transition activities, while also driving continuous improvement initiatives, governance system enhancements, policy and procedure development, and assigned civic governance projects and events.
The role also supports the coordination of selected civic events, awards programs and elected member initiatives.
About You
You are a highly organised and motivated professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys managing diverse projects, systems and stakeholder relationships.
You bring experience coordinating complex organisational projects, administering business systems and developing practical solutions that improve service delivery. Your ability to interpret legislation, policies and procedures enables you to provide sound advice while exercising discretion and maintaining political neutrality.
With excellent communication skills and a strong customer focus,
you build effective relationships across all levels of an organisation and confidently engage with elected members, executives, government agencies and external stakeholders.
Key Selection Criteria:
1. Demonstrated experience coordinating and delivering projects, programs and organisational initiatives, including managing competing priorities and stakeholders.
2. Demonstrated ability to research, interpret and apply legislation, policies and procedures, and provide practical governance advice and support.
3. Experience administering and supporting business systems, including identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and process enhancement.
4. Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and engage confidently with elected members, senior leaders and diverse stakeholders.
5. Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement, discretion and political neutrality while working in a governance, government or politically sensitive environment, preferably within local government.
