Civil / Infrastructure Project Manager

About the Role

Reporting to the Lead Projects within the Mine Engineering Team, the Civil /

Infrastructure Project Manager will lead the planning, development and execution of a portfolio of civil and infrastructure capital projects across the Mine lease.

This client-side role is responsible for delivering projects from Front-End Loading (FEL) through to construction, commissioning and project close-out, ensuring outcomes are achieved safely, on schedule, within budget and in accordance with the client's Small Projects Management Framework

(SPMF).

The immediate project portfolio is heavily focused on environmental and civil infrastructure works,

with additional opportunities to deliver infrastructure projects supporting mine operations.

Typical project scopes include

●​ Water storage dams and levees

●​ Sediment control structures

●​ Environmental compliance projects

●​ Civil earthworks

●​ Site roads and access infrastructure

●​ Workshop and maintenance facilities

●​ Drainage systems and stormwater infrastructure

●​ Mine infrastructure upgrades

●​ Operational support infrastructure

This role is suited to a delivery-focused Project Manager who can rapidly develop projects through

Front-End Loading, engage stakeholders effectively and drive successful execution.

Key Responsibilities

●​ Lead the planning, development and delivery of civil and infrastructure projects from concept through commissioning and operational handover.

●​ Manage projects in accordance with the BHP Small Projects Management Framework

(SPMF), ensuring strong governance across safety, scope, schedule, cost, quality and risk.

●​ Develop opportunity assessments, project scopes, business cases and execution strategies to support the site's capital investment program.

●​ Progress projects efficiently through Front-End Loading (FEL), design development and project approval gates.

●​ Deliver projects with a strong focus on cost control, scope management and commercial performance.

●​ Manage engineering consultants,



contractors and specialist service providers throughout the project lifecycle.

●​ Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities to ensure designs are practical,

constructible and aligned with operational requirements.

●​ Support development of the site's two-year and five-year capital portfolio by identifying,

validating and prioritising project opportunities.

●​ Prepare technical specifications, tender documentation, cost estimates and evaluation reports for project delivery.

●​ Lead procurement activities, contractor engagement and contract administration.

●​ Coordinate construction, commissioning and project handover while ensuring operational readiness.

●​ Engage collaboratively with Operations, Maintenance, Environment, Engineering and site leadership to achieve successful project outcomes.

●​ Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, productivity, environmental performance and value creation.

●​ Ensure Safety, Constructability, Operability and Maintainability principles are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.

About You

Essential Requirements

●​ Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.

●​ Demonstrated experience delivering civil or infrastructure capital projects within mining,

heavy industry or large industrial environments.





●​ Strong background in Front-End Loading (FEL), project development and capital project execution.

●​ Proven experience managing projects throughout the full project lifecycle, including planning, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover.

●​ Strong people leadership skills with demonstrated experience managing contractors and multidisciplinary project teams.

●​ Experience in cost control, budgeting, forecasting and commercial management.

●​ Strong contract management and procurement experience.

●​ Excellent understanding of project risk management and change control.

●​ Well-developed analytical, planning and problem-solving skills.

●​ Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders across all levels of the business.
