About the ROLE:
- Location: Sydney
- 4 months Contract
The Commercial Ops Business Partner works closely with Operations and Delivery teams to manage labour, utilisation, and cost performance across the business. The role owns workforce and cost analytics, drives optimisation initiatives, and partners with senior stakeholders to identify efficiencies, manage risk, and support commercial decision-making.
Key responsibilities
- Monitor and analyse labour costs, utilisation, and productivity across the business to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Partner with senior stakeholders across Operations and Delivery to optimise resource allocation and improve utilisation rates.
- Partner with team members and vendors to define requirements and deliver Power BI dashboards and reporting tools that track labour, utilisation, and cost performance.
- Build and maintain financial models, using AI tools to improve the speed, accuracy, and depth of analysis.
- Identify cost optimisation opportunities and drive initiatives that improve margin and operational efficiency.
- Champion the use of AI and automation to improve reporting efficiency and analytical capability across the business.
- Support workforce planning and forecasting to align resourcing with business demand.
- Drive outcomes by translating analytical insight into practical recommendations that add measurable value.
- Evaluate tenders and contracts, tracking key milestones to support successful commercial outcomes.
- Manage utilisation and resourcing forecasts to ensure deliverables and commercial targets are met.
- Own master data governance to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across systems.
- Undertake ad hoc project tasks as required.
About YOU
- Strong working knowledge of Power BI and other data visualisation and dashboarding tools.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Sound understanding of financial modelling principles and techniques.
- Practical experience using AI tools to support and enhance financial modelling and data analysis.
- Strong understanding of labour cost management, utilisation, and workforce optimisation principles.
- At least 5 years' experience in a similar commercial operations or business partnering role.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline; CPA or CIMA qualified.
Desirable Experience & Attributes:
- Experience working in a SaaS or subscription-based business environment, or within the energy, utilities, or infrastructure sectors.
- Solid stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trust and influence senior Operations and Delivery leaders.
- Commercially minded, with a track record of driving cost optimisation and measurable business outcomes.
- Curious and proactive, with a continuous improvement mindset toward analytics tools, processes, and the use of AI.
- Hands-on experience building Power BI dashboards and reports directly.
- Experience working in a SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) environment.
