About the role and where you will be working

Join the newTamworth Mental Health Unit (THMU)as an Aboriginal Peer Worker and use your lived experience and cultural knowledge to make a real difference.

You’ll build trusted relationships with Aboriginal consumers, families and carers, providingpeer support, advocacy, hope and practical guidancethroughout their recovery journey.

Working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, you’ll help deliverculturally safe, person-centred care, support recovery goals and connect people with community and psychosocial services.

About you

You’re anAboriginal person with lived experience of mental health challengeswho is passionate about supporting others and strengthening mental health outcomes in your community.

You bring:

- Cultural knowledge and connection to community
- Authenticity, compassion and empathy
- The ability to use your lived experience to buildtrust,



hope and connection
- A commitment to advocacy and culturally safe care
- Strong relationship-building and teamwork skills

Requirements
