Provide evidence based psychological therapies for children aged 0-12 years with moderate to severe mental illness.

yourtown is a trusted provider of services for young people, with a focus on mental health and wellbeing, long-term unemployment, prevention of youth suicide, child protection, as well as support for those experiencing domestic and family violence.

Realiseyour potential at yourtown.

Your opportunity

We are excited to deliver a pilot program to address a critical gap in mental health service provision for children under 12 years in the Bayside and Redlands corridor. This 12 month pilot program seeks to fill this gap by delivering accessible, therapeutic mental health support for children under 12, with a strong emphasis on early intervention and family involvement.

Based at Capalaba and working with the Child and Family Support Services team, this role has responsibility for providing evidence based, child centred and family focussed psychological therapies for children aged 0-12 years with moderate to severe mental illness.

Your role will include:

- support children and their families by providing a single-entry point into mental health care and wraparound supports and services
- provide intake, assessment, case planning and referrals
- engage parents/carers and children in a range of evidence-based screening questionnaires including psychological, psychosocial assessments and wellbeing measures
- deliver evidence based counselling and therapeutic interventions tailored to the needs of each child and family
- support children to improve their emotional wellbeing and mental health
- work with families to improve parental understanding of the child’s needs and how to support their child

- ensure children and families are linked and transitioned to appropriate support services in exit planning

This is an exciting chance to work within a reputable service that has a range of programs in the child and family space and is well connected with the community.

The program is delivered within a stepped care approach and works in an integrated and collaborative manner with wraparound supports. It is provided on site and via outreach.

This position will be appointed on a maximum term contract basis until 31 March 2027, in line with the pilot program funding. This position can be appointed on a 1.0 FTE or 0.8 FTE basis (can be flexible on days).
