What you'll be doing

As a Speech Pathologist Level 1/2 (New Graduate), you will provide evidence-based assessment and intervention for patients experiencing communication and swallowing disorders across a range of clinical services. Working alongside experienced clinicians and multidisciplinary teams, you will develop your clinical skills while delivering high-quality,



patient-centred care.

Assess and treat paediatric and adult patients with communication and swallowing disorders within your scope of practice

Deliver evidence-based care and maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with departmental requirements

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and provide effective clinical handovers using ISBAR principles

Participate in clinical supervision, continuing career development, student education and service improvement activities

Support research, health promotion and quality initiatives while contributing to safe, equitable and person-centred care

New graduate position for a student finishing their degree by the end of 2026 or early career Speech Pathologist with less than 12 months post-graduate work experience. This position is part of Westmead Hospital's Level 1/2 clinician group working in a rotation structure across a variety of inpatient and outpatient specialties.

Qualification: Tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology

Registration: Eligible for practicing membership of Speech Pathology Australia

Selection Criteria

Demonstrated experience in the management of adults with acquired swallowing disorders, and experience in the administration of objective swallowing assessment procedures.

Demonstrated experience in the management of adults with acquired communication impairments.

Demonstrate excellent interpersonal,



written and oral communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Demonstrated excellent time management and organisational skills.

Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of Evidence Based Practice, commitment to professional development and experience in quality management or research.

Current Drivers Licence valid within Australia
