Duty Manager – Railway Hotel Peterborough

We’re looking for an experienced, reliable and hands-on Duty Manager to join the team at the Railway Hotel in Peterborough.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a genuine country pub environment, leading from the front and becoming part of the local community.

We’re looking for someone who can confidently take ownership of a shift, support the team and help us continue building the Railway Hotel as a welcoming local venue for both Peterborough residents and visitors to the region.

About the Role

As a Duty Manager, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day running of the venue during your shifts, including:

- Leading and supporting the team across bar and gaming

- Providing friendly and professional customer service

- Maintaining strong venue presentation and service standards

- Managing cash handling and end-of-shift procedures

- Ensuring RSA, gaming and venue compliance requirements are followed

- Handling customer enquiries and resolving issues professionally

- Supporting venue promotions, entertainment and community events

- Assisting with the smooth operation of the hotel during busy periods

- Opening and closing the venue as required

- Working closely with the Venue Manager and wider management team

This is very much a hands-on role. We’re looking for someone who is comfortable jumping behind the bar, helping in the gaming room, supporting the team during a busy service and taking control when an issue arises.

What We’re Looking For The successful applicant will ideally have:

- Previous supervisory or Duty Manager experience within hospitality

- Current RSA





- Responsible Person approval/badge, or willingness and ability to obtain

- Gaming experience highly regarded

- Gaming qualifications or willingness to undertake the required training

- Robust communication and leadership skills

- Confidence dealing with customers and managing a team

- Good attention to detail and an understanding of venue compliance

- Availability across a flexible roster, including nights and weekends
- A reliable, positive and practical attitude
- A willingness to become involved in the venue and local community
