What if your next role put you at the heart of a Mission Critical Data Centre, helping protect uptime every hour of every day?

Company Overview

STACK Infrastructure builds, owns, and operates hyperscale and colocation data centers that power the world’s most ambitious technology companies. With a rapidly expanding footprint across APAC, STACK combines deep development expertise, flexible capital, and operational discipline to deliver critical digital infrastructure at scale.

Our clients include the largest hyperscale cloud platforms. We are building a regional platform defined by speed of delivery, power reliability, and long-term partnership — and we are assembling the team to lead that effort.

Summary/Objective The Critical Operations Technician provides 24×7×365 operational coverage to support continuous, safe and reliable performance of critical electrical, mechanical, cooling, controls and life-safety systems across the data centre. The role performs hands-on operational maintenance, system monitoring, first-response troubleshooting, incident support and contractor coordination to uphold STACK’s 100% uptime commitment. Technicians operate and monitor facility infrastructure across power and cooling paths within approved procedures and role-specific authorisations, while maintaining a concierge-level customer service approach in all stakeholder interactions.

What You’ll Be Doing

As part of STACK’s Critical Operations team, you’ll help keep our Data Centre environment operating safely, reliably and efficiently around the clock.

You’ll work across critical electrical, mechanical, cooling, controls and life-safety systems, supporting the continuous operation of infrastructure that customers depend on every day.

You’ll

- Maintain 24×7×365 shift coverage and support the safe, stable operation of critical infrastructure systems.
- Operate and monitor electrical and mechanical systems within approved procedures, including UPS, PDUs, switchboards, generators, CDU/FWU/CRAC/CRAH units, chilled water systems, pumps and associated plant.
- Perform hands-on operational maintenance within authorised limits, including inspections, condition monitoring, equipment resets, minor adjustments and non-licensed component-level replacements.
- Identify abnormal conditions, complete initial diagnostics, take first-response action where authorised and escalate issues promptly.
- Respond to alarms and operational incidents, supporting containment, investigation, communication and service restoration.
- Use BMS,

EPMS and monitoring platforms to track alarms, interpret trends and support safe performance optimisation.
- Complete structured rounds, including meter readings, thermal checks, capacity observations and equipment condition checks.
- Coordinate and supervise licensed contractors completing trade-restricted works, ensuring compliance with permits, LOTO and site safety requirements.
- Support planned maintenance, shutdowns, testing and return-to-service activities through operational tasks, witnessing and verification.
- Maintain accurate shift logs, event records, handover notes and CMMS updates to ensure full operational traceability.
- Identify and report reliability risks, improvement opportunities and operational-readiness gaps.
- Participate in incident management training and emergency-response exercises as a trained first responder.
- Contribute to SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, risk assessments and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, Security, Projects and internal stakeholders to support a high-quality service experience.

This role does not perform licensed electrical, mechanical or refrigeration work. Trade-restricted activities are undertaken by appropriately qualified contractors or licensed personnel. The role focuses on operational system management, first-response troubleshooting, vendor coordination and component-level maintenance within authorised limits.

What You’ll Bring

You’re safety-focused, practical and calm under pressure. You understand the importance of following procedures, escalating early and keeping accurate records in a live operational environment.

Direct Data Centre experience is highly regarded, but it is not essential. We also welcome experience from other Mission Critical environments such as hospitals, utilities, defence or industrial plants, where safety, reliability and operational discipline are essential.

You’ll bring

- 2-3 years’ experience in critical environments such as data centres, hospitals, utilities, defence, industrial plants or similar operational settings.
- Experience operating or monitoring electrical, mechanical,

cooling, controls or life-safety infrastructure.
- Familiarity with systems such as UPS, generators, switchgear, PDUs, PMMs, ATS, STS, CRAC/CRAH units, chilled water systems, pumps, fire systems and controls.
- Hands-on experience performing operational maintenance and first-level rectification activities within authorised limits.
- Experience using BMS, EPMS, CMMS or workflow tools to manage alarms, work orders and operational documentation.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and documentation, including single-line diagrams, procedures and O&M; manuals.
- Awareness of permit-to-work processes, LOTO and basic risk assessment principles.
- Strong communication skills for shift logs, handovers, incident updates and customer or stakeholder engagement.
- A team-oriented approach and the ability to work effectively with technicians, Security, Projects, vendors and contractors.
- A strong focus on safety, risk control, reliability and continuous improvement.
- Legal entitlement to work in Australia.
- Ability to satisfy pre-employment screening requirements, including right-to-work checks, background checks and reference checks.
- Ability to meet Data Centre security requirements, including badging, access control and customer-mandated security protocols.
- Availability to work a 24×7 rotating shift roster, including nights, weekends and public holidays.

Security clearance is not required unless specified for a customer-specific facility.

Work Environment

This role operates in a live Data Centre environment, including data halls, plant rooms, electrical and mechanical spaces, and external plant areas. PPE is required in line with site policy.

You’ll participate in emergency-response activities and incident exercises, and you’ll work as part of a shift-based team supporting continuous 24×7×365 operations.
