One of our Federal Government Clients is seeking to engage a Data Centre Field Infrastructure Engineer - APS6 Level

Please check below all the job details:

1. CContract Duration: 33 Months (09 Months initially + 24 Months extension)
2. Work Location: Sydney (Hybrid)
3. Work Arrangement: Initial 03 Months onsite, then after hybrid available, min 03-day Office and 02 days home – Each week
4. Eligibility: You must need to have NV1 Security Clearance or above.
5. Tentative Start Date: 06th Oct 2026
6. Working Hours: 08 hours a day/ 40 hours a week

Key duties and responsibilities: Infrastructure Engineers implement, manage and retire the infrastructure (including physical, virtual, networking and cloud infrastructure) that supports digital services.

The Data Centre Design Field Infrastructure Engineer role plans and builds core IT or digital systems. They design, build and maintain the systems and network infrastructure as required. Also design secure, reliable, and scalable network, cloud, or server environments.

The role requires a Data Centre Field Infrastructure Engineer with a strong background planning and building protected, high-power, and reliable facilities for computer servers and cloud networks.

Key duties and responsibilities:

The Specified Personnel will be responsible for providing the following deliverables including but not limited to:

- Providing technical advice and guidance to project teams, business representatives.
- Identifying and implementing service improvements that enhance reliability, security, supportability, operational efficiency and user experience.
- Ensuring all projects are delivered in line with the Department’s timeframe.
- Working with Project Managers to define and schedule deliverables.
- Identifying risks, issues and opportunities for the business.




- Supervising and managing staffs.
- Maintaining project work flows as required.
- Leading and managing projects and technical activities.
- Providing strategic planning, mapping and modelling development.
- Coordinating and implementing infrastructure changes.
- Lead major incident responses and recovery activities.
- Troubleshooting of complex technical issues.
- Conducting and analysing root cause of critical incidents.
- Scheduling and managing tasks.
- Review and approve technical change activities.

Specified Personnel will be expected to transfer skills and knowledge to departmental staff and ensure appropriate documentation is stored in accordance with the Department’s recordkeeping policy and practices. The Specified Personnel will also be responsible for producing the following deliverables, including but not limited to:
- Oversee rack allocation.
- Power utilisation.
- Cabling standards.
- Infrastructure architecture and operational design.
- Technical standards and operational procedures.
- Infrastructure roadmaps and lifecycle plan.

Technical skills: Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:

- ITIL Foundation or higher.
- Microsoft certifications.
- Cisco certifications.
- Data centre facilities.
- ICT infrastructure.
- Technical writing and drafting i.e. AutoCAD and Visio.

Essential criteria

- Analyses service and component availability, reliability,



maintainability and serviceability. Contributes to the availability management process and its operation.
- Provides technical expertise to enable the correct application of operational procedures.
- Investigates problems in systems, processes and services. Assists with the implementation of agreed remedies and preventative measures.
- Designs, codes, verifies, tests, documents, amends and refactors simple programs/scripts. Applies agreed standards and tools to achieve a well-engineered result.
- Designs system components using appropriate modelling techniques following agreed architectures, design standards, patterns and methodology.
- Undertakes or supervises complex installations and de-installations of systems or components, including handover to the client. Schedules installation work around client priorities and resource availability. Ensures adherence to established safety and quality procedures.

Desirable criteria

- Demonstrated experience in coordinating resources and accurate recording of effort.
- Demonstrated experience in producing technical documentation and data centre management or ICT infrastructure support.
- Proven ability to work within a structured ICT and project management governance framework and deliver results that adhere to organisational standards and policies.
- Experience with design and delivery of ICT infrastructure projects, data centre and equivalent spaces.
