About the Opportunity

Platinum Pacific Partners has been exclusively engaged to find a Director of Asia-Pacific Operations for a trading business based in Sydney. The firm services asset managers and other institutional clients and has an established international presence. It's a lean, well-regarded operation that's continuing to invest in its Asia-Pacific business, and this role sits right at the centre of that.

About the Role

You'll be part of a small team in a boutique environment, responsible for running operations across the region, working alongside senior stakeholders both locally and overseas. It's a genuinely broad remit, covering trading operations, client relationships, onboarding, business development and technology support. If you like having your hands in a lot of different things rather than owning one narrow piece of a much bigger organisation, this is that kind of role.

There are naturally busier periods at times, but the team works closely together, with responsibility for the broader operations function rotating between team members on a week-by-week basis. It's a role that offers autonomy and variety without a highly siloed or hierarchical environment.

What You'll Be Doing

- Running the daily equities trade flow, from client allocations and broker commissions through to security setups, FIX workflows and FX execution




- Acting as a key point of contact for brokers on operational issues and staying ahead of trading and regulatory risk
- Managing client queries relating to trading activity, settlements, commission budgets and CSAs
- Supporting business development, including prospect meetings and preparing DDQ and RFP responses
- Managing client onboarding, including more complex direct settlement and attribution setups
- Bridging global technology teams and local providers
- Supporting local finance reporting and liaising with the global finance team

What We're Looking For

- Solid APAC trade operations or middle office experience, ideally from a trading or buy-side environment
- Strong working knowledge of equities trading, post-trade matching (CTM), broker setups and FIX connectivity
- Comfortable dealing directly with clients, brokers and traders, rather than operating purely behind the scenes
- Happy wearing multiple hats in a small, cooperative team
- Bloomberg, Triton or LiquidityBook experience is a plus, but not essential
- Exposure to commission budgets, CSAs and client onboarding
- An understanding of APAC market regulation as it relates to settlement and compliance
