Alya is looking for experienced, compassionate and reliable Disability Support Workers to join the support team for a male and female participant living in Esk, QLD.
This role would suit Support Workers who are confident providing personal care, clinical-focused support and assistance with daily living, while building genuine and respectful relationships with participants.
Both participants have ongoing health and support needs. Including stroke, behaviours and immunological conditions.
Due to reduced immunity and the participants' health needs, a strong understanding of infection control, hygiene practices and safe support delivery is particularly important within this team.
About the role
Support may include
- Personal care and assistance with daily routines
- Supporting participants with mobility and activities of daily living
- Clinical-care focused support in line with participant care plans and training
- Maintaining excellent infection prevention and hygiene practices
- Supporting a participant following a stroke
- Behaviour support and responding calmly to changes in presentation
- Medication support within scope and competency
- Meal preparation and household assistance
- Community access and appointments
- Supporting independence, choice and participation in everyday activities
- Gardening and assisting participants to maintain and enjoy their home environment
- Monitoring and reporting changes in health, wellbeing or behaviour
- Completing accurate case notes and communicating effectively with the wider support team
About you We are looking for Support Workers who are calm, observant and confident working with participants who have complex health needs.
You will ideally have:
- Previous disability, aged care, health or complex-care experience
- Experience providing personal care
- Confidence supporting participants with changing health needs
- Solid infection control and hygiene practices
- Experience supporting behaviours or complex presentations
- A patient, respectful and person-centred approach
- Strong communication and observation skills
- The ability to follow clinical guidance, care plans and support strategies
- Reliability and a willingness to become a consistent member of the participants' support team
Experience supporting someone following a stroke, with reduced immunity or other complex health conditions would be highly regarded.
