Bring your patience, compassion and experience to a role where trust makes a real difference.
At Care Fast, we know great support starts with a well-supported team. We look after our frontline staff through ongoing training, clinical guidance and approachable leadership, so they can help participants live with greater confidence, independence and choice. We’re looking for a calm, experienced Disability Support Worker to support a young adult in Carnegie with complex psychosocial disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) and a trauma background.
If you value consistent relationships, recognise the importance of small achievements and enjoy helping people build skills at their own pace, we’d love to meet you.
An opportunity to make a meaningful difference You’ll support someone living independently who benefits from structured, intermittent support throughout the day. Your approach will centre on building trust, respecting personal space and working alongside the participant to develop everyday skills. From preparing a meal together to supporting a community outing, each interaction is an opportunity to build confidence and independence.
In this role, you’ll:
- Build everyday living skills through support with routines, meal planning, shopping, cooking, cleaning, laundry and caring for the home.
- Encourage meaningful community participation, including appointments, education and activities that reflect the participant’s interests and readiness.
- Provide calm, consistent support during emotional distress, using trauma-informed practice and Positive Behaviour Support strategies.
- Build a trusting professional relationship through patience, reliability, clear boundaries and respect for the participant’s choices.
- Work closely with the wider team to provide coordinated support that responds to the participant’s needs and goals.
Who we would love to meet You’re someone who brings warmth, emotional maturity and a steady approach to your work. You understand that trust takes time, and you can remain calm and respectful when situations become challenging. We'd love to hear from you if you have:
- Experience supporting people with psychosocial disability, autism, acquired brain injury or trauma.
- An understanding of person-centred, trauma-informed support and professional boundaries.
- A practical approach to building independence through encouragement and shared tasks.
- The confidence to work independently while staying connected with a multidisciplinary team.
- Reliability and a commitment to providing consistent, ongoing support.
