Kinglake
Eastern Underground is a growing civil construction company specialising in underground infrastructure works across Victoria. With a fleet of more than 60 vehicles and items of plant. We are looking for an organised and capable Fleet/Yard Manager to join our team in a newly developed role combining managing our fleet and yard operations.
About the role
Based at our Kinglake depot, you’ll work closely with our Mechanic, Fitter and Turner, field crews, suppliers and management team to help keep our vehicles and plant protected, compliant, maintained and operational. In addition to this you would be required to monitor project stock and workshop supplies as required.
Your responsibilities will include
- Coordinating scheduled servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance across the fleet
- Monitoring upcoming maintenance requirements and proactively following up outstanding items
- Booking vehicles and plant with external repairers and specialist service providers where required
- Ordering, sourcing and following up parts and equipment
- Liaising with suppliers, mechanics, service providers and internal crews
- Maintaining accurate servicing, maintenance and repair records
- Assisting with fleet and plant compliance documentation and administration
- Coordinating vehicle and plant availability around operational requirements
- Supporting the mechanic and fitter and turner with day-to-day fleet and plant requirements
- Attending sites when required to inspect, troubleshoot or assist with vehicle and plant issues
- Identifying opportunities to improve how our fleet and maintenance activities are managed
About you We’re looking for someone who is mechanically minded and is equally confident in organising, coordinating and keeping things on track.
You’ll ideally have
- A sound mechanical knowledge – official mechanical qualification not required
- Heavy vehicle,
diesel, plant or equipment knowledge highly regarded
- Civil construction or similar industry experience highly regarded, but not essential
- Stock management experience
- Excellent computer and administrative skills
- Strong organisation and time-management skills
- Confidence managing multiple priorities and following things through to completion
- Good communication and customer service skills
- The ability to communicate effectively with field crews, management, suppliers and external service providers
- Good attention to detail and record keeping
- A proactive approach rather than waiting for problems to arise
- A current Australian driver licence
- A willingness to learn and develop as the role and business continue to grow
Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who can take ownership of their area. Someone who notices what needs doing, follows it up and helps keep everything moving. Why Eastern Underground?
Eastern Underground is growing quickly, and this role is being developed as part of how we intend to strengthen the management of our expanding fleet and plant operations.
Because this is a newly developed position, there is genuine opportunity to make the role your own and grow with the business. For the right person, it offers a pathway beyond being solely on the tools and into broader fleet, plant and maintenance coordination and management.
You’ll be joining a practical, down-to-earth team where your mechanical knowledge will be valued, but so will your ability to organise, communicate, problem-solve and get things done.
Competitive remuneration will be offered based on qualifications and experience. If you’re mechanically minded, organised and looking for something a little different, where you can combine your mechanical knowledge with coordination, organisation and responsibility for a growing fleet, we’d like to hear from you.
