Please do not apply if your only early childhood qualification is a Graduate Diploma. This role requires a Certificate III or Diploma-qualified educator.
Looking for an early childhood service where experienced educators are trusted, supported and given the time and staffing to do their work properly?
We are recruiting an experienced Early Childhood Educator for a permanent full-time position with a highly regarded, community-managed not-for-profit early childhood service just minutes from the CBD.
This opportunity would particularly suit an educator who enjoys working within a smaller, collaborative team and values thoughtful practice, strong relationships with children and families, and an environment where quality takes priority over simply meeting minimum requirements.
Why this opportunity stands out
- Excellent remuneration and conditions: Enjoy remuneration well above the relevant Award, together with additional employment benefits rarely found in privately operated services.
- Genuine work-life balance: Strong staffing levels, thoughtful rostering and additional wellbeing initiatives help educators build a sustainable career rather than simply survive the working week.
- High-quality educational environment: Join an established service with a strong reputation for educational quality, reflective practice and long-term educator retention.
- Real professional support: Work alongside experienced educational leaders and colleagues who value mentoring, collaboration and ongoing professional learning.
- Community-managed and purpose-led: Decisions are shaped around children,
educators and families rather than shareholder returns.
- Progressive practice: The service has developed meaningful initiatives across areas including sustainability, children's agency, community participation and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives.
The opportunity
You will join a well-established early childhood service where educators are encouraged to build genuine relationships with children and contribute meaningfully to the educational program. The service takes a child-led, relationship-focused approach to learning, with considerable emphasis on children's voice, connection with the natural environment, and meaningful partnerships with families and the broader community.
Importantly, this is not an environment where experienced educators are expected to carry an unreasonable workload because staffing has been stretched to minimum ratios.
The team is reliable, experienced and collaborative, and many educators have remained with the organisation for a considerable period of time.
We are particularly interested in educators with strong experience working with nursery or toddler-aged children,
although applications from experienced educators across the birth-to-five age range are welcome.
What we are looking for
Above everything else, we are looking for an educator who genuinely enjoys working with young children and brings warmth, patience and professionalism to their practice.
You will also require
- A Certificate III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care, or an ACECQA-approved equivalent qualification
- Ideally at least three years of full-time experience working within early childhood education and care
- Previous experience working with nursery or toddler-aged children highly regarded
- Experience within a community-managed or not-for-profit early childhood service highly desirable
- A sound understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework and National Quality Standard
- Strong knowledge of child safety obligations and ethical professional practice
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to working within a team
- A commitment to reflective practice and continuous improvement
- Current Working with Children Check
- Current First Aid qualifications, including HLTAID012, or willingness to obtain required updates
- Required Victorian child safety and mandatory reporting training, or willingness to complete this before commencement
How to apply
If you are an experienced Early Childhood Educator looking for a service where quality practice, strong relationships and educator wellbeing genuinely matter, we would love to hear from you. Apply now for a confidential discussion about the position.
