About the role
We are seeking an Experienced Disability Support Worker to join our team in Geelong, VIC. This is a casual position that offers flexibility whilst providing essential support to people with disability in our local community. As an Experienced Disability Support Worker, you will be instrumental in delivering high-quality, person-centred support that enables our participants to achieve their goals and participate meaningfully in community life.
This role requires someone with proven experience in disability support who can work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
What you'll be doing
1. Providing direct personal care and assistance to participants with disability, including support with daily living activities, mobility and personal hygiene
2. Supporting participants to access community activities, social engagement and recreational opportunities aligned with their goals and preferences
3. Assisting with meal preparation, shopping and household management tasks in line with participant support plans
4. Building positive relationships with participants based on trust, respect and understanding of their individual needs and preferences
5.
Maintaining comprehensive and accurate documentation of support provided and participant progress
6. Communicating effectively with participants, families, colleagues and other service providers to ensure coordinated support
7. Assisting participants with transport to appointments, activities and community engagements as required
8. Supporting participants to develop skills and independence where appropriate, encouraging self-determination and choice
9. Adhering to all relevant policies, procedures, duty of care requirements and safeguarding standards
10. Contributing to a positive, inclusive team environment and supporting colleagues where needed
What we're looking for
1. Demonstrated experience working as a Disability Support Worker or in a similar support role within community or disability services
2. Knowledge of disability support best practice, person-centred care principles and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) framework
3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with participants from diverse backgrounds
4. Physical capacity to assist participants with personal care and mobility support as required
5. Ability to work flexibly, manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing participant needs

A commitment to safeguarding principles, confidentiality and duty of care
7. Reliable, punctual and professional approach to work
8. Current relevant qualifications such as Certificate III or IV in Disability Support (or equivalent) are preferred
9. Valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) or willingness to obtain one
10. Current First Aid and CPR certification is preferred
11. A valid driver's licence and reliable access to transport are advantageous
