Domestic and Family Violence Support Worker Duties Provide confidential and culturally appropriate support to people experiencing domestic and family violence. Complete initial assessments and identify clients’ immediate safety and support needs.
Assist clients to develop individual safety plans. Provide crisis support and access to protected accommodation. Refer clients to housing, health, counselling, legal and financial services.
Advocate for clients when engaging with government agencies and community services. Support clients to attend appointments, court hearings or other essential services. Provide practical assistance with transport, food,
clothing and emergency relief.
Maintain accurate and confidential case notes and client records. Work collaboratively with police, health services, child protection and other support agencies. Promote clients’ independence, dignity, choices and wellbeing.
Follow privacy, safeguarding, workplace health and safety, and mandatory reporting requirements. Respond appropriately to risks involving children or vulnerable people. Participate in team meetings, case reviews, training and community-awareness activities.
