About the role

As our business grows, the new Finance & Commercial Manager role will manage our day-to-day finance function across the business's multiple-entity structure. This spans transactional accounting and payroll through to reporting, budgeting and cash flow. The role also builds our commercial management and administrative capability to support that growth.

But this is more than a finance role. Some days will involve managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations and month-end reporting across Mac Waste's businesses. Other days might mean helping the Directors pull together a tender or contract, onboarding a new employee, or keeping the office running smoothly.

You'll be equally comfortable managing payroll and statutory compliance as you are supporting a customer onboarding or a business administration task. You'll take ownership of Mac Waste's finance function while acting as a central point of coordination for commercial, administrative and HR matters, working alongside our internal team, or external accountants and an external HR consultant for anything more complex.

Key responsibilities

- Manage day-to-day finance operations across the multiple-entity structure, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations and month-end reporting
- Own payroll and statutory compliance, including PAYG, superannuation, BAS, IAS and Payroll Tax
- Support Leadership with tenders, proposals, quotes and contracts as the business grows
- Coordinate office administration, business systems and workforce records, supported by admin and wider team support
- Onboard recent employees and refer more complex HR matters to Mac Waste's external HR consultant

About you

- Extensive experience in end to end accounting or bookkeeping management,

with the ability to work confidently 'in the books' and advise the business accordingly
- Solid Xero experience, with exposure to an integrated employment/payroll system such as Employment Hero (or similar) covering both payroll and onboarding
- Comfortable moving between finance, commercial and administrative tasks in a small, growing business
- A self-starter who builds strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
- Degree qualified or Cert IV in Bookkeeping/Accounting highly desirable; CPA or CA membership (or progress toward) advantageous but not essential
- Current unrestricted Victorian driver's licence
- Valid Australian working rights
- Ability to meet any reasonable role-specific safety, health or compliance requirements

with room for the role to grow as the business does
- On-site in Maffra, with standard business hours and flexibility by agreement
